    Paul Roos - Epitaph

No...not suggesting the end is nigh, but if he were to decide to pull the plug right now and head off with Tammy to la la land, what would they say?

    RIP Paul Roos

"Riding a wave of popular support, he delivered the silverware to become an all time club legend. His focus on accountability and man on man footy kept the Swans in the top half the competition for more than half a decade. The later half of his career was characterised by inflexibility (a touch of arrogance?) and an unwillingness to change his methods despite the game moving on. Coupled with a tendency to doggedly support senior players irrespective of form and an odd draft strategy, he left the club with a weak list facing two compromised drafts and an uncertain future."
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

How very true, especially the last bit....
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

For the first few decades of my life i said to people that if I could see the Swans win a premiership, i'd willingly put up with 10 consecutive wooden spoons after it. Until September 2005 alot of people seemed to agree......but nowadays so many people have forgotten how hard the years were, how painful it was to have never experienced premiership glory and want to make so much of the struggles of now.

For those of us who feared we would never see that day, and for those of us who still consider it the greatest day of our lives, nothing Roos does in the future will ever diminish the positive contribution he's made.

Don't get me wrong, the points you raise about inflexibility and loyalty to the older players are valid, but how can any summation of Paul Roos spend more time talking about his failings than his successes?

        Fair enough.

Aside from the stats regards our dismal first round record, I came away from last night thinking that was almost a carbon copy of the tripe we served up in Eade's last stanza. Same style, same "game plan" or lack thereof. If after Round 6 we are still producing this dribble will the call come loud and clear from all and sundry. Or will Roosey wake up one morning soon with another Houdini like solution.

Well he has done a Sheedy and has blamed all future losses on the players.

Retire and say - "I'm leaving the Club in good hands....."

              Please.

              @@@@ ... it's only Round 1.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Yeah it is only round 1,
we def had a slightly different style in the 1st qtr to previous years, quick flow through the corridor.

i think let the game plan evolve over the next few rounds, everyone keeps saying to copy the Hawks, however we are probably similar not in skill maybe, but 1 on 1 accountable footy, we moved the ball quickly through the corridor.

But roosy did hit the nail on the head, we lost our intensity in those 2 qtrs..

so i think lets wait and see where we are at after rnd 6..but if we continue to buiild on that 1st qtr style and seriously it will take a while to break some old bad habits and get some confidance...
hate how our supporters after rnd 1 start calling for heads etc...Roosy can only do some much at the end of the day if players aren't prepared to lift then i think you will quickly find some opf the other yngr brigade coming into the fold.

This is what I said to RP 20 minutes into the game (we were at the Alexandria watching it).

Wow ... they've got a new game plan and it seems to be working.

Pity they all forgot it for the next two and a half quarters.

As for the second bolded point ... right on bro!!

I'm pretty sure Roosey would lurv to pull on a guernsey and play with the boys, but I don't think his hammy's would let him.

For God's sake get over it. If you don't like what's happening, then find a team you do like. It wouldn't matter what the players, coaches, management of this team does, as far as your concerned it no good, we are doomed to failure. If it happens, it happens just stop the moaning about it.

But it all started when they stopped letting the kids have a kick after the game.

                            Capper style

They had to stop kick to kick after the game as drunkards would take Capper style shoulder grabs over toddlers?

At this stage, I wonder if there is any question about the relative contribution of Paul Roos vs. Ross Lyon in the 2005 premiership?
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.
