Lets play the Kids Roosy !!

Reading the best players in the 2nds today against what is the best opposition they will play this year apparently.

    Best : L.Johnston , B.Meridith , R.Brabazon , K.Thornton

ROOSY , JUST PLAY THEM : Give them a go,
Im sick of not watching our kids at the elite level.

See what they have got, Carlton ,Freo,Crows,Lions,Hawks,Bombers all played them. Hurley played in a Key Defensive position and did Ok.

Really want to see Johnston play. Why cant he be thrown in a pocket or a flank. Give him a crack. Play Brett Meridith. Id rather see him go around than Monty right now. Play Brabazon, Crouchys finished, see what he has to offer.

Im sick of these kids always taking time to develop in bloody Canberra.
If Johnston was taken at 12, he surely can play, take the bloody punt Roosy.

    Thoughts ????

We should not be playing in Canberra - does not allow our young-uns to develop to their full potential...

Given the reserves got pumped on the weekend, maybe the other teams have improved?

I think the Canberra comp is the most realistic option at the moment.

As for the thread, happy to see a couple have a go but I don't know if that's the problem. We played very well in the first quarter - it was the terrible game plan that seemed to let us down in the middle two quarters, not the personnel.

Can't see how playing someone like Lewis Johnstone in Canberra is going to assist in his development. Get him in the seniors and give him a crack.

Heads need to roll after that performance on Saturday night. We should see some more kids this week.

Not according to Roosy himself. He reckons all of our kids are injured.

The article mentions Murphy's shoulder injury which is a moot point considering he is on the rookie list!

Roosy is oh so stubborn. He's done some great things for us but right now he just needs to get his head out of the sand and realise that we need to rebuild.

Given that they are only allowed to have about 12 Swans listed palyers on the field at any time, it's not surprising they got done. It would be far better for them to play as a whole in the VFL, then every listed player could get a game every week. It would also give them a decent standard of football each week in which they could develop as a team and as individuals.

Is that really practical for a team playing in NSW though? As a Victorian, I'd love it as I'd see more of them but I don't think it's quite as simple as that.

Have we even got 12 fit Swans, not playing in the seniors at the moment?

Our blokes should be spread out amongst the Canberra clubs.

Sorry Robbo, that defeats the purpose of having a reserves team, so that the club can play them in the positions that they want them to. They are members of the Sydney Swans Football Club, not ACTFL.

I don't think the Canberra leagues is any good for us, but as far as sharing the players around the Canberra clubs, it's the same as what the Power & Crows do in the SANFL and the Dockers and Eagles in the WAFL. The difference is the SANFL and WAFL are far superior competitions to the Canberra comp

I'm pretty sure if our blokes went to other teams, they would be the best player in their particular position.

Sorry guys but none of this will actually happen. Even if Roos had a history of playing kids, you just do not start dropping players after one bad game, especially if that bad game was round one. It would be a hysterical reaction - I bet even Richmond will go into Rnd2 with the minimum number of changes.

Anyway I won't be too upset if the same team face Hawthorn (yep, even Barlow). If they can't be motivated to perform at the best of their ability after that showing, then they will all know what's coming. I reckon it is a great time to play the premiers - I don't expect to win, but it will sort the wheat from the chaff.
