Watched it on Ten. Wonderful game from the dull, boring, one-dimensional Swans!
Some were better than others, but I don't think we had a weak player on the ground. Fantastic team pressure and intensity right through the entire game.
And as for the youngsters, they were without exception on top of their game and their opponents, and revitalized the old codgers (including me and mrs d).
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Apart from some early blips, I thought both McVeigh and Shaw were outstanding tonight. Very impressed with Shaw's acceleration. As were Jolly and White in the ruck.

            Great all round effort.

Since White's potential mark of the year was denied, Goodes' one was a cracker too.

Pity about the injuries though, hopefully nothing too serious.

ETA: There was a moment at the end of the 2nd Quarter I was very impressed with. After Jesse kicked the ball on the siren, a number of players went up to BBBH and patted him on his back. This was after the two dodgy 50m penalties that were awarded against him. Was very impressed with it, because then he came out and played out of his skin in that 3rd quarter as a result.

When was the last time we won a game where the bookies and tipsters expected us to lose? I don't think we've had a victory like that in 07 or 08.

I was channelling Anthony Hudson all night.

                What a great win.

                    Whooooo-wheeeeeee.

Goodesy and I are back on. Addie ... Captain is as Captain does. Absolute huge second-half effort.

I'm also going to take B2. Did Buddy touch the ball?

Troy Luff Medal ... I'll wait till Thursday till I've watched it as least another three times to decide. Too, too, too hard basket. Much easier to say who won't get it.

                    OMG. What a pleasant surprise!!

Really pleasing performance to turn things around. We do have a habit of lifting for games against more highly fancied opponents so let's hope that we don't have a let down next week. I also think Hawthorn's style does suit us a bit better than tight man-on-man footy. But take nothing away from the team, we started very slowly and it was a matter of hanging in there early, but things gradually clicked.

Not going to go through each player, but thought Shaw and McVeigh were brilliant in the first half - Shaw gives us that much needed speed which is something we still need to address and his efforts to run and create options really stood out to me.

Jolly and White were huge in the ruck - yes Hawthorn's ruck stocks were almost non-existent, but you still have to make that advantage of paper count on the ground and they did that, not just with hitouts, but all over the ground. While we really can't afford to lose Jolly, White has shown there's huge potential in him and that our ruck stocks look just a bit more solid than they did a couple of weeks back.

LRT and B2 did massive jobs on Franklin and Roughead. I'm sure the job in the middle helped in pressured delivery, but even one out, they were solid the whole night.

Really glad to see different avenues to goal being utilised as well - Jolly, Malceski etc. It's crucial to have a multi-faceted attack so that if Hall or ROK are down, that we can still kick a winning score.

I'd say we'll head into next Saturday's game as slight favourites, but we will need another 4 quarter effort to come away with the 4 points.

                      I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

You know ... now I can look at last week's loss in a different light. (Bear with me.) I watched the Ainters today and again, they didn't really let the ball go past the half-forward line. The way I see it, Lyons played Roosey at his own game and did it better on the day; so we lost. (Did anyone see Schnieder's snap in the last quarter ... his eyes were on the ground - a few more of those per year might have kept him in the R&W!!) Tonight's win, however, perhaps has made me a little less cynical ... till next week. Bloody brilliant.

On wins like tonights', it would really be nice to be able to go to an after-match function.
Swans should really pull their fingers out and organise somewhere for us to go at Homebush.

Awesome game to watch and a very fun kick to kick after the game. Was great to shutup a couple of nuff nuff Hawks supporters who couldn't stop rambling on (Hall their main target) in the first quarter, just made my day

Great effort from our next gen players especially McV, White, Bird and Meredith (it's nice to have a reassuring newbie in the team). Not to mention the efforts of B2 and LRT - who has indeed lifted his game from dopey to competent . Ablett looked good and back to some vintage form and Shaw could possibly be the steal of the draft, his kicking and pace is quite exceptional.

Hall really gets a raw deal from the umps and its only a matter of time before he snaps again. The shirt pull in the second quarter the most blatant of all.

Btw, was the commentary extremely boring tonight??? It sounded like a lame effort from some highlights I've seen. If it was Carlton or Richmond they'd be frothing all over it - wtf is wrong with our boys..PATHETIC!
