Perhaps the ultimate praise: just back from Auskick, a few of my young charges were declaring themselves to be "Jesse White".
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Biggest concern with Jesse White is GC17
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

I have thought that too...but surely he wouldn't want to go back and live in that hell hole. I haven't been to Sydney for a few years but surely it is better than that false,so far removed from nature, traffic snarled version of hell. The beach used to make up for it 10 years ago but not now.

Should be enough in the kitty at end of 09 to lock him up for at least 3 years.

Very pleasing games tonight from White and Meredith. They gave their all and werent overawed by their opposition. The club's future is in the hands of young players like them and today our future looks good (it looks a damn site better than it did last Sunday!)

Agree on Jesse White. Perserverance with him has paid off and hopefully he'll keep on improving. Excellent game last night - loved his work.

That was ridiculous wasn't it? Of course he sat on the other guy's back to take the speccy. Isn't the rule of thumb if you take the mark they pay the mark & if you don't they pay the free the other way?

High time for the AFL to start cleaning up these glaring grey areas in our game I reckon. Methinks whilst technically he gave away the free kick, taking speccies off people does nothing for the game as a whole. And will only have coaches saying "don't go for high marks in future", which to me would be completely tragic!

I was livid at that decision (as much as I was the disallowed ROK goal). Umpires are in danger of ruining the game, as is the rules committee and fwits like Kevin Bartlett.

The free against White was there according to the letter of the law as he momentarily touched the back of an opponent with his hands before he lept. It was there just like the tiny touch on Rioli against Crouch, the incidental high contact on Brown against Shaw (which Brown caused, not Shaw) and the slight front on contact on Goodes when he wasn't really in a position where he was likely to mark.

As I commented last week, Plugger would be laughing (or crying) over the things forwards get frees for nowadays.

And Baz ditto - other forwards, that is!
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Only if he is out of contract.

The 7 hobbits more like it.

                              Something to note (I appreciate that Hawthorn's ruck stocks were depleted) in regards to Jesse's 28 ho count from the weekend, looking at our other ruckmen not named Jolly over recent years;
Stephen Doyle: bettered that total once in 7 seasons
Jason Ball: bettered that total twice in 5 seasons
Peter Everitt: bettered that total once (and equaled it once) in 2 seasons
Adam Goodes: has not bettered that total in 11 seasons, which includes years winning the Rising Star + the Brownlow playing mainly in the ruck
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
