Unfortunately, it's the rule now. A player who retards his opponent after his disposed of the ball gives away a 50, no exceptions.

Some Hawthorn fans were sitting behind us and, as usual, we were amicable and there was much mutual agreement on the "soft" frees and how the game is much better when the umpires stop blowing "technical" frees (ie technically against the rules but not malicious/deliberate/necessary) and let the game go.

Apart from the first 20 minutes, I think Barry had a good game. The Hawthorn Cheer squad was giving him hell, as was his two opponents, but he didn't lose his cool. Very good to see.

What I noticed was that after the Jessie White goal, just about every member of the team made their way over to BBBBH to give him a consolatory pat on the ass after that shocking decision to give Hawthorn a 50m penalty. The way it looked to me was that EVERY Swan out there new BBBBH was very stiff to be penalised and they all knew it.

He's all right is BBB. He got his happy face on eventually and all is well. He is our BBB, if he was anyone else's perhaps we could be a bit miffed, but honestly, can any of you tell me which player at FF hasn't waved his hands around in frustration? I'm thinking Precious Poppet (Lloyd), Richo, Farmer, that twerp from Eagles, et al. Its what they do.

He wanted Jesse to kick to him but if Jesse did the siren would of sounded before the mark and no goal would have been scored.

I dunno. Is Baz for the team or for him?
From my position (which was virtually right in front of him) he seemed a little more relieved than angry.

            Blind sooky la-la.

The second 50 he got wasn't warranted.

The umpires have admitted they made a "mistake" with that souffle' effort!
