      Games Coached - 207
      Wins - 85

      Win % - 41.1%

And to think he is a worse commentator than he was coachl. It astounds me the amound of obvious rubbish that comes out of his mouth.

Mind you I may be a little bias because of his obvious bias against the swans

We should be grateful its Walls - they appear to have plonked the whining voice of Malcolm Blight into the half time programming. Thank heavens. OK, he is right with the 3 goal rule, but nag nag nag on and on, and stuff is happening on the field and he is ignoring it because he is still harping on about something else! I am truly relieved we are being spared this year. I make no apologies.

Probably get sacked from the rules committee for bagging the umpires.
IIRC this interpretation was triggered by a (Collingwood I think) player already having a ball from the bag in his hands BEFORE a set shot was even kicked, let alone before the goal ump had signalled it. So they clamped down and said you can't grab an alternative ball before the ump has stuck his finger out. You can still grab the original ball as soon as it crosses the line (could be costly grabbing it before with the new deliberate rule) though you still can't kick till the ump gives you the finger.

Yeah alot of people bag Robert Walls, but i reckon his comments are very appropriate, alot of the times harsh, but very good.

He tells it how it is.. hes a no bull**** commentator, i loved it when he was 'on the couch' too.. james hird just doesnt cut it. Ill never forget how Walls grilled mark harvey last year on the couch.. "Well ive been watching the fremantle football club for X amount of years... And ive got no idea what they stand for" !! classic, Mike Sheahan is a bit the same.. and I like it.

And he does rate the swans, talks us up heaps..
He knows the game very well.
Channel ten commentry is the best IMO.

Rather Listen to Robert Walls than David Schwarz ANY day in special comments....

The Roos-Wall feud goes back to 2005 when Walls accused Roos of "coaching for himself" - a foolish thing to say about Roos of all people.

Usually I appreciate Walls' verbal miscues. A personal favourite was the 2005 preliminary. After Barry's lovetap on Maguire he is yelling, "Barry Hall is by himself! Maguire, get on him! You can't worry about a knock to the stomach..."

Barry Hall "love tap" on Matt Maguire | directsport.tv

After Collingwood got slaughtered in the 2003 grand final, Walls' Monday column went through the Magpie team one by one and described how badly they had played. You can take the boy out of Carlton....

In the absence of any truly eloquent TV footy commentators we are left with the cheerful idiocies of Rex and Wallsy.

Seriously (!) you cannot compare the sometimes wrong but at least trying to say something interesting of Robert Walls with the hideous inanity and sometimes plain ignorance of bloke like Quatermain....now that's appalling.

The truly eloquent ones are very few IMO. Very best Gerard Whately...and the very best ex player (who loves the way the Swans go about it...when we are good) is Jarrod thingy ex Fitzroy/Brisbane and Collingwood. He seems to understand the game better than any. Often says things that make the other commentors go "ah, yes...now that you mention it."

It's big, big shame they are not doing the TV commentary.

Does anyone know ho to get hold of the ABC radio 2005 GF?
"I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005

What??!! No way! Walls was one of the first ones that was against the style of play, I remember watching that shocking game against St.Kilda in 2005 and as bad as the game was, boy did he bag the swans! He's always had it in for us since then, writing us off every year (as do most) Dont like him at all as a commentator/football analyst.

Best place for analysis/opinion is On the Couch - the addition of Hirdy is great and Gerard Healy is pretty switched on. Sheahan bangs on a bit like an old grandma (apologies to old grandmas out there), but he is usually good for a bit of high pitched up-tightedness and some comic relief each week.

Was funny last night watching him try to start a bit of hissy and counter hissy (like he was able to do with Walls last year), but Hirdy was agreeing with him (about umpires enforcing pedantic rules).

Checked out the new One HD show "One week at a time". Good title - they really should consider it a one week at a time proposition - what a yawn. The only thing that will keep it going is a need to find content of any sort to broadcast.

The only interesting part was Malthouse (again - he's been in more shows than a showbag at the moment - perhaps a bit insecure about coaching?) and Richo.

MSB is correct. After the Saints game at Telstra Dome in 2005 we had to endure 10 minutes of listening to Walls rabbit on about how bad the Swans played and they would never get anywhere with that style.

I remember leaving the ground thinking we could never have that many turnovers from errors again so it had to get better.

Micky O kicked a great goal from the 50 metre line on the boundary that made going worthwhile !

The rest of the season everyone seamed to forget their earlier comments.... typical news today ,, forgotten as a new story takes over tomorrow.

Some people like listening to the ABC calling the game. It gives them an insight the average fan at the ground doesn't have.
