Amazing....so they want us to just let them have the ball....jeepers hockey is tougher than that. I'll admit we do play one-on-one stuff but even netball does that and you have to win every possession.

I don't know how supporters can dismiss the fact that all teams do that flooding stuff that they whinge about.

Henry Playfair was interesting to listen just prior to th game when he told what goes on in the huddle. The captain of the day reiterates the basics that need to be concentrated on such as one-onone.

I'm sure he doesn't say let's let them have the ball soit is pretty to watch.

Goodes didn't play poorly. Didn't get a lot of the ball but when he did get it he was very effective. Also his presence in the forward line helped some of the other guys and pretty much helped us to win the game. Everyone was pretty good but Barlow was a bit erratic at times and could have passed to someone instead of going for the goal himself. Still needs to become a team player. Good win by the Swans, well done.
Ohh and Jude Bolton was awesome.

But we have played the kids and that is the beautiful thing. Our unheralded kids beat their heralded kids (see previous thread on definition of 'kid')

I've been as vocal as anyone about our unwillingness to blood new talent, but I do think we've been making good progress on that front late last year and this year. There was a lot of our next generation out there today.

An uninspring game of football, especially the first half, where iot felt like the winning team would be the one less crap. Carlton kepts uis in it early being wasteful in front of goal, while we lost an opportunity to run away with it in the 3rd, but we held on and ground out a hard fought victory, somehow managing to conjure 12 goals with a terribly non-existent forward line.

It seemed to be more good fortune than good management when we kicked goals, and the defence did an admirable job, although they were helped by poor delivery from Carlton - credit to the midfield on that job.

Will be interesting to see how we go on a much bigger ground next week...

Good win - not great but I expected Carlton to falter - no backline.

Teddy Richards was great, body on the line every time and Bolton killed Fev.
Shaw was great - as my wife says he sprints as soon as he gets the ball. It creates a bit of chaos for the zones. As for Carlton fans on BF criticising our style of play - have a look at yourselves! Lots of cheap stats there.

Carlton will stuggle to make the 8 and I reckon we'll beat them in Melbourne - again!

Well, I didn't see the game, I heard it on MMM.
But he has generally valid points.
Generally valid points mixed in with disappointment and sookiness.

No different to the Swans supporters here who whine and moan about the umpiring after nearly every round.
Right now we don't play an exciting style of football.
And I would feel a bit ripped off if I was paying to see that every week.
As a fan you want a win, but also to be entertained.

What a bunch of idots, obviously they prefer to watch uncontested circle work than tough hard game of man on man. Then again Carlton supporters have always been sore losers and whingers.

Not so sure about this bit. I enjoyed watching, especially as we won. But if the finishing had been a bit better, say 3-4 goals from each side that weren't kicked, it would probably have rated as exciting. Not much difference really, in terms of the actual play.

As a Member we do pay every week and all I ask is for a 100% effort.
Swans give me that almost every week.

Today's win was ground out then when they were worn down we ran away with the win.

Carlon did not know where to kick it after 1/2 time.
Lots of around in circles on the backline.

Thanks for that...I was just going by the lack of mentions on the radio andthe low stats...shows how deceptive that can be

I thought that was a very strong win. The only negative was the last 2 minutes of the 3rd and 4th quarters.

I don't think we had a passenger.

Thornton did a couple of OK things.
Anyone agree with me that Grundy really stepped up and may have even arrived as a footballer.
Although not a lot of stats Meredith continues to show his poise and skill.
Bird has all the time in the world when he has the footy, sometimes too much time eg. caught from behind. If he had another yard in pace he would be something else. Maybe set him for the 2010 Stawell Gift to help his pace.
The backline continues to do the job. Even though Betts got away from Bevo a couple of times, Bevo did the shutdown when it counted (where is Connolly)
O'Keefe - looks to be back. Stood up after Q time when needed. Still reckon he should play on the ball.
Shaw is an inspired draft selection. His ability to find the ball off half back and run down field with the transfer of play is exceptional. He is giving us better value than that other bloke did last year. He must have racked up some Brownlow votes by now as he is in the play all the time.
I must say even accounting for Jude's dubious disposal, he is in the best form of his career.
McVeigh was very good, as was Kirk, Jack was good, Moore did his bit in a very even performance.

I enjoyed that win, I was suprised to get home and see how lopsided to the umpiring stats were to us- at the ground it seemed if anything Carlton were getting a good run.

A half forward line would be nice, great to see Grundy provide something there in the second half.

The AFL site is crediting Shaw with 18 bounces!
