I always thought it was the yuppies that went to the races.

I didn't even know there were races on. Most boring "sport" ever.

As stated in other posts there were other events going on as well. You have the races and also the rugby league around the same time so the crowd was good. Also most of the fans were Swans so its pretty obvious that some of the Swans fans are doing their bit to help the club. 30,0000 is pretty good in this market so we should be glad. If it was under 20,0000 then we worry but I'm very happy.

It shouldn't be forgotten that the game was heavily advertised for the previous two weeks (starting the monday after the Hawthorn game) on TV. Any doubt a consistent 2 week drive got some people out to the SCG in support?

It's funny you should say that, I didn't see one advertisement for the game. Whilst making our way there and sitting in the car park otherwise known as the harbour tunnel, we were discussing how little they had pushed it.

I was surprised as to how much there was and in prime time too - It seems that the advertising budget has been increased (or its done in alphabetical club order and the AFL has finally reached "S") now if they had of had that much advertising last year for the final - then they probably would have been more that 19000 people turn up.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

I wouldn't say boring but the problem is, you have to burn quite a bit of cash to make it interesting, and that's only if you receive a dividend of sorts
Captain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sector

No. Mind numbing is my first thought.

                      Kenny Callander ... YOU LEGEND!

Kenny you have a great sense of "history" ... it was an historic moment for you on Saturday when Manhattan Rain won the Sires ... officially the ONLY winner you have tipped (from 12 "good things") in the past month of the Sydney Easter Carnival!

Your "bankrupt" racing supporters can't afford to go to the races mate! ... they are all saving their money up to buy the Sydney Morning Herald on Mondays, so they can look for a second job!

Thankth all the thame Kenny, but I think I'll wait for Thamantha Mith to go around againtht Thunthine Thally again before I thtart paying too much attention to YOUR opinionth mate!

                      (with apologies to Billy Birmingham)

                              I ain't a yuppie, I just like sport,
And horse racing has got as much to do with sport as fishing and shooting

And what about the yuppie gettup they all wear to the "Races" ?

Hey Kenny Callander, You've obviously missed the Swans stallion LRT in full stride across the lush green grass of the SCG.

And by the looks of the new AFL ad it seems Goodsie is faster than a horse.
