Unlike the cheersquad in the box on Saturday, the best commentator of Freo games is Gerard Healy - he does get behind them a bit, but only because the network forces him to cover 90% of their games. What's a guy gonna do?
At least he still calls it pretty fair, (no cheering for purple frees, unlike the jokers on Saturday). He has my sympathies for being saddled with watching more of Freo than anyone else on the planet (apart from their fans who may choose to watch every game!
And no, no idea about the Shaw 50. And not easy to find out when the commentators can only see one team out there I guess!Comment

I saw the pushing and shoving from which a 50m penalty ensued but it was confusing because I didn't realise a free had already been paid, hence the subsequent 50m. I suspect Shaw had stepped into the square too early, hence giving away the free, and then he was surrounded by a group of Dockers who looked like they were letting him know about it. He pushed back, not particularly hard, one of them went to ground, and the umpies paid the 50m.
I'm not sure it exactly "turned the match" given we were already so far behind, but it did seem to sap some energy from the team after they'd come out noticeably buoyed up after half-time and had scored two goals with relative ease.
I don't mind the Dockers as a club, but they do have some players who like to go the niggle. Before the game even started, there were Dockers clearly pushing and shoving their opponents as they ran to position. Most noticeably down the end where I was sitting, Tarrant looked like he was trying really hard to ruffle up Goodes at CHF/CHB. Goodes was doing his bestest to ignore it, but Tarrant just kept coming back for another push and shove. It was irritating the @@@@s out of me, so goodness knows what it was doing to Goodsey.Comment

That's pretty soft IMO, they're handing 50m penalties far too often and regularly and for very minor infringements."In some ways we?re less predictable to ourselves and sometimes that can be detrimental because we don?t really know where we?re going" - P.RoosComment

And they stole Rocca (imagine what we would have done with him at CHF and Plugger at FF!), Mark Orchard (after they traded him to us in the first place to get Rocca), Billy Picken (ok, they gave him to us, but like Orchard they took him back) Barry Mitchell (in his prime), Graham Teasdale (Brownlow medalist), Greg Smith (took the "Bionic Man" in his prime and then broke him), Paul Hawke (yeah they gave him back... past his prime), Shane Morwood (imagine a backline with him & Tilt Carter!!), Paul Morwood (well he had a year off, but the Maggies still couldn't keep their hands off an ex-Swan!), Dermie Brereton (where he played twice as many games and kicked 4 times as many goals as he did with us), Clinton King, Paul Licuria (who went on to win a couple of B&Fs there) and they drafted Gerard Healy after he retired from us with a severe wrist injury (luckily he had the good manners to stay retired).
AND they tried their darndest at one stage to get Plugger's signature before we did.
Sure we've effectively recycled some players who either Collingwood didn't want any more or who didn't want to be at Victoria park, but they've given us some bottom end list-fillers and stolen some very handy players!
I think the above are reason enough to intensely dislike the Maggot-pies for any Swans suporter.Last edited by goswannies; 27 April 2009, 01:58 AM.Comment

Yeah, but looking back over that decade and a bit before that too, they also gave us Kent Butcher (0 games), Matty Ryan (10 games in a side that stuggled to win), Ben Wilson (4 games), Michael Lockman (11 games), Scott Russell (who according to the Encyclopedia of League footballers, was "disappointing as he rarely showed his best form")

Pigs Arse Elliott wanted to move the Crims into the Sydney market by putting the Bloods to the sword. MacAllister who was as cunning (and about as intelligent) as a dunny rat feared the financial strength of the Crims and put a stop to it.Bevo bandwagon driverComment
