    LRT is doing ok

Anyone else notice, particularly in the replay, just how much "voice" Lewie has acquired? He used to look almost embarrassed being out there, but I noticed he was organising the mob and being vocal. He was outvoicing CBolts even! That master of the verbal

Yesterday LRT had the highest efficiency rating with his delivery in the team..OVER 90%...time the 'rabbits in the headlights' was forgotten. He has developed into a skilful defender who will beat his man most times. AND, not short of a bit of ticker as shown by his straight back up again after being well flattened yesterday.

More vocal , more signs -more effective

Being involved/vocal/organising to help felllow teams is simple great tactic that uses tiniest energy.

I feel there is not enough of "closer to action" support. Surrounding key players close to team player with the ball should readily give signs to indicate the situation. For example, signs to show that there are no opponent is behind a player with the ball, directing where the ball should go to. Often we see hurried kicks to goal but not scoring due to the rush when there is actually extra split second time to position better for the goal. Ted's rush behind Vs Blue, so close to goal, could be one of the wasted opportunity.

He's a good player and a valuable contributor. Even Bolton couldn't neutralise Brown and Bradshaw with the ball coming in on a cushion like a bloody wedding ring. If the mids do their job, The Hyphenator will do his.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

And his one bad game so far was against Brown and Bradshaw - many a good defender has failed that task. LRT looks confident and fearless. And he has really bulked up too. He rebounded from that very heavy hit like nothing had happened. He is now an important and valuable part of our defence. Well done LRT!!

Thats a very good point. The swans, and this forum, need a muppet to blame, tease, belittle, bully.

We've had a very strong list of Luff, chambers, Matthews, LRT, Bennett.... with cameos from the likes of Springs and Dale Lewis.

I dont think we have to look far though. Barlow seems to be rising to the challange nicely.

                        unique

LRT was a uniquely Swans only player in the past who would not get a game at any other club. Not now! He is worth every bit of a bigger contract and as well he knows how to play on the big stage of a Grand Final and handle it well.He is a Gem now!!

You obviously didn't watch the 2005 GF. His attack on the ball and man has always been excellent. His disposal and decision making let him down. But that's where he has improved dramatically. IMHO he's become a top KP defender.

And someone else said in this thread that he's become a top KP defender as well.

I wouldn't be singing his praises that highly as of today.
He was 1-2 steps behind his Bisbane opponent a few times, allowed Brisbane to dominate the game when it counted. I think he offered single dimensional defence that nite.

He has potential to be among the elite all rounded defenders, such as Leppitsh who can defend three quarter and go to face you in attack when you are running out petrol in the final quarter. He did that consistently. That was demoralising to say the least, I remembered. Hearts were stabbed ! Tail between the legs, the next day.

                              Now
if he can attack and kick straight, contribute 2-3 goals in a game to kill off opponents ambition of comebacks
                              if he can pack mark,
if he can do ride-on mark,
if he do the side step dancing,
                              if he can..........
                              consistently,
then I would agree with all the comments above.

Until then, he has lots of fine tuning on his tactics to reach higher stratosphere.
