I am taking my ball and going home

Just what I feel like doing. It was a horrid game to listen to, the biais was unprofessional and provincial. I would expect better from a major television station by now, and I would expect that the commentary team would get their wrists slapped.

I was disappointed in the play, but its not like we can win every game....oh yes, that's right we could if we were the puddytats. But besides that, ... ok I admit, I gave up at half time. I could have hung in there but the gloating atmosphere created by the commentary poisened it for me.

Taking my ball and going home. mutter mutter mutter growl.

I was listening to the radio coverage on SEN. I expected and got the freo appreciation society - turned off at half time, not becasue of the score but because of the coverage. I listen to many games on melb radio and after this terrible coverage (regardless of who plays) I will refuse to listen to a game with WA or SA local callers again - my recommendation to all - when a game is on in WA or SA and they use local callers - simply forget it.

the commentary was so biased I turned the volume down, Matthew Campbell is no doubt the worst of them, Glen Jackovich is another. what is it with these commentators, I would rather watch a game without the garbage commentary. give me Dennis Cometti any day, he is the best in the business, Robert Walls is another as a expert commentator.

Why isn't there a swans-centric commentator. In Brisbane we get Lynch and Campbell and in the West we get Javovich. There's probably one in SA I've forgotten about.

We do, we have Luffy, and god bless him but he actually goes out of his way not to appear to favour the Swans, too much IMHO. Hi Luffy!

There ought to be a medal for that Geelong fan Anthony Hudson.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I was actually really shocked ... i knew it got bad but that was downright ridiculous and hugely unprofessional!!

in the opening pre-match stuff they must have gone through every freo player with not a mention of one swan. i understand that you tend to talk about the team who is winning but it didn't even seem like there was another team on the ground ...

even the rare swans goals were simply talked about in terms of the freo defenders effort and their skills ....

it was appalling and that sort of behaviour shouldn't be allowed to air ... i don't want swans bias or even anything that amazing - just something resembling what is actually happening on the ground and the players involved!!!

Closest for us is Gerard Healy, and he too tries a bit too hard to be unbiased. Also, he gets saddled with most Freo games (so it was weird he didn't do Saturday night's game) and doesn't get enough Swans games.

Huddo covers his loyalties better than anyone. His call of Davo's goal and immediate aftermath, when his own heart must have been breaking, ranks with the best commentary heard in years.

Commetti is good, but it sounds like he's trying a bit too hard these days to come up with the kooky comments. They were much better as a side dish to the main course, but to me, they seem to have pushed onto the middle of the plate a bit the last few years.

Oh, and to hear Commetti, you have to take Bruce too. Sheesh! At least the Ox (zzzzzzzz) has been replaced by Bucks, who fits the role like a glove.

Welcome to the weird far-away land that is WA folks! Culturally detached from the rest of the country & often trapped in the 1980s (no Sunday shopping, wanting to vote AGAINST daylight saving!) And where the Dockers & Eagles are all there is in footy. And anyone who isn't biased is seen as 'unpatriotic' towards their people. Seriously, that is the way they think over there! The Eagles won last week & people were seriously believing they were in premiership form again!

Having said that the Subiaco experience was far far better amongst the Freo fans than when we play the Eagles over there. No arrogant snobby comments, no bogans with surfer haircuts following us down the street getting off on rubbing the result in. Just surprisingly-loyal people very pleased their team finally sold the potential they have. As much as it was gauling to lose over there, I was still pleased for the Freo supporters & told them as such when heading for the buses after the game.

SA has KG Cunningham, Graham "Cornsey" Cornes, Rowie (who has a voice for printed media) and Josh Francou.

David Murphy used to do a lot of Swans games and was fantastic in presenting a educated and informed Swans bias.

If you want a really good commentator who will give the Swans a decent voice, go no further than Bobby Skilton. Have a listen to the call of the 1982 Night GF vs North. Music to my ears.

Adelaide also had McDermott who droned out the worst television commentary in memory. He repeated "da Addeled footy club" ad nauseum like a barely trained parrot and of course there was the prize idiot Jarman. The last fair commentator for the Bloods was Dermott Brereton. Never bagged our playing style and actually understood Rooseys game plan.

It was a pleasure to the ears to hear Walls suggest Sat arvo that LLoyd, who was having trouble getting a kick up forward, should be given a run on the ball...He never misses that one with Hall...must be one of his five comments that reappear every game..nice to see him spreading it around!

Lou Richards when he commented with Peter Landy used to say every game going into the last quarter that 'they'll know they've been in a game of football by the time this one is finished'.

Could have lived with the bias on the radio commentary if they actually knew the Swans' names.
