    3 Weeks till best team

Only 3 weeks till vespremi is back and then I believe our best possible team available for selection, also leo but I don't believe he will be able to crack our team. And then with assuming bird and white are back by then our best possible team being

Backs: Bevan, Bolton, Mattner, Malceski, LRT and Ted

Mid: Jolly, Shaw, Goodes, Kirk, Bolton, Mcveigh

Forwards: Moore, O'Keefe, Vespremi, Hall, Micky, Grundy

Interchange: White, Jack, Bird and Meredith or Thornton for the last spot, but I would say Meredith may get the nod.

With Amon, Ed and NOG being likely emergencies. Although Roos seems to love Amon so he will probably be in the team somewhere.

Disagree FWIW about Vespremi. Thornton is a better mark, kicks just as well and more versatile and should be in front of Vespremi at this stage. Plus don't know if you can play two permanent forward smalls so if Moore plays Vespremi probably won't. Buchanon will probably be picked in the firsts every match if his leg speed is kept up for reasons of toughness and he breaks out of packs

I agree, Vespremi gets lots of big wraps here, mainly on hope. He looks lively but his kicking for goal has been wayward at times, and as you say he doesn't look very versatile, not yet anyway. I like most hold hope he'll develope into a top player, but he's only shown glimpses so far.

After watching the weekends game I have to say watching how well meredith and thornton played Vespremi isn't a shoe in.

LRT needs a holiday- just to prove to everyone how much better a team we would be without him!!!!

Why do we continue to beleive in this guy?

He is too small and weak to play a key position and continually gets muscled out of contests.

In addition, his skills and decision making are woefull. (You can actually see him change his mind while holding the ball.......talk about a poker face).

Cheap stats do not equal a good performance!!!!!

I watched the game and cannot beleive that he was in our best.

Unfortunatly, there was a moment were I thought he might strike an opponent yesterday and get rubbed out (wishful thinking). Then again, what was I thinking - he could never harm a fly, tiger, docker, blue, lion, hawk, saint........... (and that's where the problem lies)!

If you don't beleive me - then total his ave rating on Inside football per game over the last two years. This guy is far and away the lowest scorer in the league for any player that has played more than 5 games in their career.

My TEMP solution, get Grundy into the Back half. He is not quick enough to play forward but would be a valuable body down back.
.....and start recruiting CHB & CHF type players to build a team

Last years top pick was a good start.

I'm rarely inclined to comment on RWO anymore - but Briswans comments deserves a special mention.

Its either the best 'wind up' post I've seen, or more likely, the most pathetic slur on a player that's appeared on this board. I can't even be bothered to argue, suffice to say Will's right - you're totally and utterly clueless.

I agree. LRT was definitely one of the best yesterday and his accuracy and choice of disposal was excellent.

I didn't see the game, but I'm a Lewie fan so I checked the player stats and found he topped the disposals at 92% efficiency. Seems like a reasonable game to me.
And incidentally, he's not slow; he covers ground fairly quickly but with a slower cadence (rate of step). PS added later: Barlow has the same characteristic.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Grundy should never play in the backline, totaly hopeless back there. Whenever I have seen him play up forward, he has been fantastic.

Totally agree Grundy is not a backmen, he is a totally different player when playing up forward, keep him up front, gives us more avenues to goal.

As for LRT so far this year he has impressed me with his style and the way he plays the game, last year I use to gringe when ever he had the ball he looked like a deer mesmirised by the headlights of a oncoming car.

Barlow is the one for me that frustrates me, I know he is only young and hasn't played much, he just looks like he's running at half pace and dis-interested, pretty much reminds of two recent players, Nick Davis and Dale Lewis. Both great players, lots of talent and potential but in my eyes never really lived up to that potential week in week out.

Overall I'd say we have a half decent team that can make the finals and give teams a run for there money, and with the reports about our reserves and the players that are injured the future of the team looks pretty good.

I still rate Grundy as at least a half decent defender at this stage of his career and expect him to be a very very good player one day - at both ends of the ground.
