I thought M Richo's performance with half a buttock was pretty amazing. He was limping from the first bounce but still provided a viable option up front for the Tigers. C Bolts did what he had to do, and probably won in the end, but an immense effort from the tall tiger.

Our defence in general was pretty good, but I would say Mattner and Shaw were our best down back. Bevan did pretty well on Nahas who has a quick turn of pace and Teddy did alright considering a few little cranial holidays.

Liked what I saw from Pyke - took a nice grab and was effective overall. Would like to see him with a few more games under his belt.

We do desperately need a one-touch creative midfielder or three to get us out of our cannon-fodder style which is hurting us atm. Respect to Kirk and Jude, but gee whizz we is slow as porridge.

Oh and Jolly had a tough day in the office against Graham I thought. But had fair go none the less.

      .
Might have been a good effort but he was ineffective and quite clearly shouldn't have played. At this level you get found out if you're not fit.

Sure, and I think for the most part you are spot on, but its a case of who is going to come in who will do a better job. Aside from the risk of exacerbating his niggle, I don't know if there was a more effective option on their list.

FWIW I thought his effort was pretty good considering.

          Only 7?

Admittedly some umpiring decisions turn out to be correct when watched on TV, but from the stand there seemed to be dozens of baffling decisions. And of course, with one eye out of commission, they all seemed to go against us.

Goodes was held out from virtually every clearance with a clear jumper hold in the last quater. Never once picked up.

I found the umping pretty poor in some regards, most of the worst decisions being made by the 3 gamer. New one to get mad at. Spread the load with the Twerp.

                  Second Half Was A Disgrace

Geeeez, what a pathetic second half of football
It represented a pack of dogs chasing after a bone....a swarm of nothing.
I am sick of watching our players turn back into trouble or handballing to team mates in difficult situations instead of KICKING IT not to mention going backwards or across goal to our detriment.
Seriously, this zoning crap has changed the game into Basketball with handball and the occasional boring short kick.
In some rare instances we played on ,kicked long to put pressure on their backmen and scored because we had better cattle under those circumstances than them.
Wasn't Micky O great when he marked, played on and drilled it

SEN said before the game Hall and especially MOL would be rusty. Ha.

Yes BRISWAN, that was vintage MOL

I thought he wouldn't let us down.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Watched the game on tape last night. Would have prefered to be there in person but had to work.

                        1st Qtr was great.
Still don't know how Jack kicked that goal. Unbelievable.
2nd Qtr was good. Consolidated the good start.

Fell down badly in the 3rd & 4th Qtrs and nearly blew it. Once again the Swans couldn't maintain their intensity for 4 quarters and couldn't put the Tigers out of the game.
Mattners brilliant tackle really saved the match for us IMHO. If RIchmond had goaled then scores would have been level and I think they would have gone on with it.

Finally, some thoughts on some of the Swans:

Mike Pyke - Good 1st game. Plenty of room for improvment though.

Ted Richards - Great game. BOG IMHO.

Michael O'Loughlin - Good return to top football with 2 goals

Ryan O'Keefe - Finally woke from his 5 game slumber. Hally & Micky O returning seemed to liven him up.

Barry Hall - Inaccurate kicking & gave away a dumb free in the 3rd Qtr. st game back so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt this time.

All in all, the Swannies will still need some improvment to beat the Cats next weekend (must win IMHO).
                        Red & White forever.

I beleive the free was against MOL, if it is the little fraces that involved Hall. MOL through the player to the ground, restulting in a free against.

I thought that the less crap team won. Our sloppy fumbling of the ball across the midfield was pathetic. Thankfully our defence was solid and saved us from a humiliating loss. Mattner's 4th qrtr tackle was superb, as was another in the 4th by two Swans that saved another Richmond goal.
