Not sure about checking out their legs but they do have very different running styles.
Mattner's Tackle

Cloning Marty into Heath is just one ID problem. It's the proliferation of Jude Boltons on the ground that's causing me difficulties. And a faux LRT.Comment

One other big difference is that Mattner has very clean (or is it sticky) hands. A one touch player who almost always picks it up in one grab, runs in a crouch, low centre of gravity. In contrast Reg runs stiffer than a double scotch and sometimes taps, fumbles for so long that you can go the extortion stall order a pie, say hello to an old mate and get back to your seat, missed nothing, Reg is still trying to pick it up.Bevo bandwagon driverComment

One of the best players i've ever seen for running flat out at the ball and scooping it up.One other big difference is that Mattner has very clean (or is it sticky) hands. I think it's more when they're on the spot/contesting marks/on the turf. You'd never see Mattner take off on one of his runs off half back and think it was Grundy, but I often get a little confused when it's in a pack situation. I can usually tell the difference, but the commentators especially have a LOT of trouble.Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

Goody Stella some time ago described Barlow to me as a mixture of Craig Bolton and Cameron Ling, not exactly the most flattering combination. She was tickled pink when a commentator made the same comparison during one of the games (last year?).I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Now if only he could play like a combination of the two.......Comment
