I didn't see the game and haven't watched a replay yet, but I have checked out the stats. I don't understand the anti Pyke comments. Pyke had the best 'hit outs to advantage' than any of the other ruckmen (33%) and Blake only had 1 more possession than him and Jolly only 2 more.
Many of the best footballers excelled at other sports before choosing AFL. So he didn't grow up taking a footy to bed, big deal. I'm on the Pyke bandwagon.

      Definitely.
And Pyke should stay where he is. White will make a fine KP forward.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

          Amazing coincidence

Thought I would share this! As some of you know,i live in Thailand and was chatting with a friend from work and a few of his mates and AFL came up.I said I followed the Swans to the other guys there and one of them piped up in a Canadian accent. "I know a guy who plays for the Swans" "Yeah sure!": I said. This guy went on.."his name is Mike Pyke he was in the same school as me,he played for Canada when he was 20"

Hey ,I was gobsmacked ..found out a few things about him and apparantley he was and is a superb athlete and all round sportsman..hence his amazingly quick adaption to Aussie Rules...What a small world!

Nah, not me, we were out of there pretty quickley after the siren, in the car and up the highway to Melbourne in record time. Didnt see any 'melee'.

Yep, that was a beauty. One of the few good moves of the day by the Swans.

FOr sure, he's a great prospect. As well as being a good athlete he's a natural competitor who loves to take the game on. It's good Roos has sent him back to the twos for a bit more education.

Pyke will not test his might against Cox this week.

So it may be a White Cox battle instead.

Surely more of a Jolly Cox battle than a white Cox battle?

As per my comments in another thread on White, Pyke was always only going to be played for two weeks before White returned from a couple of weeks in the reserves to get maximum game time.

With no room for White to rest forward now with MOL and Hall back, look for Roos to rotate him and Pyke in and out over the year to give both more game time.

Oh and I reckon Currie might get a crack at the next rotation in a couple of weeks.

Seems to be standard practice to give the youngsters two weeks in the As before sending them back down.
