        You answered your own question.

Scheinder was the only one we had with any upside that was tradable.

Do you think in the past clubs just chucked around second round picks for older players with no upside?

Good on Scheinder for doing well at the Saints, but we had cover for him in players like Moore and Vespremi who would not have got a go if he had stayed and we traded for Mattner who fills a whole for us down back that was missing.

A bit of perspective required - it was one good game and he has the luxury of playing in a white hot team at the moment - makes everyone look like superstars.

Since leaving, he's had a handful of good games (at best), quite a few more average games, and more still forgettable ones (well, they would be forgettable, if anyone noticed them in the first place so they could forget them).

Good luck to him, but the fact remains the Swans did ok out of the trades that year, and Schneids wouldn't have made a shred of difference to our outcomes over the last two seasons, or this one.

Is it possible for one of the mods to fix the title of this thread....it's anyoning.

Correct. The way some are going on you'd think he'd been in white hot form since he was traded to the Saints.

He's had more average games than good ones, and a few really bad games. Meredith will be better and so will Vespa.

...and Mattner has been sensational in return.
