Would just like to say thank you to FIGJAM for being brave enough to come on this thread and be civilised but I do think there is going to be a massive hangover. I recognise that typing from the days when I used to faceplant on the keyboard due tothe demon drink.

The Bevanator played a very good game as predicted. Was only beaten once. He played McKinley in close. The kid was careful not to infringe and the mark went to the forward in front as it often does. You might have collapsed into the cot after this brilliant post but perhaps a sense of fairness might cause you to acknowledge that the kid took a wonderful game saving mark at the death, going back into the pack (with courage) and took a strong overhead contested mark, when it counted. He goes back into packs in the forward channel every week. He saved the match against Freo last season. People who understand football appreciate the courage and skill of this.

He was good ordinary again last night. He did his job but (from the tele) I am not sure that he beat his man. That said, he wasn't towelled up either and his mark at the death was a ripper. Trademark Bevan. Certainly did enough last night and certainly did not have a shocker.

That awful,awful woman I sat in front of at the 2006 Grand Final would be spewing. When the security people had a word to her about her foul language she said it was ok to swear as she was swearing at Barry Hall.

Giving me that visual of that woman has really cheered me up thank you. Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Some interesting stats:

Barry Hall had 6 disposals, being 6 kicks for his 5 goals. 5 tackles, no frees for and no frees against.

Ryan O'Keefe had 25 disposals, 8 tackles, 88% disposal effectiveness and 4 centre clearances. Clearly a huge plus for us in the midfield.

Brett Kirk, 90.48% disposal effectiveness with 4 kicks and 17 handballs. And of course a lazy 10 tackles.

Witnessing season 09 as a Swans supporter is like watching a tough, competitive men's tennis match. The aim is to hold serve to survive, or break serve to set out to win on the offensive.

In 2009 Sydney has thus far won all their home games, (like holding serve in tennis), and lost all their away games, (like the opponent holding serve in tennis)

For 2009, these close call Home wins against Richmond and now the Eagles are comparable to your favourite tennis player just managing to hold serve to stay in the match.

Don't have much to say that hasnt already been said here:

• The Evils defenders must have been saying some nasty things to Baz but he admirably kept his cool and played his best game in ages.
• Great to see Goodes back in top form over the last few weeks.
• MOL is my favourite Swans player of all time and even when he's not scoring, he's running and scaring the hell out of opposition defenders.
• Shaw almost ruined a good game for himself with some awful disposals.
• How calm was Roos when we were penalised for an interchange infringement - can you imagine how Eade would have reacted?
• Although we looked stagnant in the last quarter I was impressed by the way we manned up all over the ground when the Evils tried to play kick to kick.
• And the team didnt give in, nor did the crowd urging them on to that come from behind match winning goal which would have devastated daylight saving hating Evils supporters

What about Fatso from their cheer squad. Every time Magic razzled dazzled the befuddled Eagles defense he would be throwing the Jaffas at the tele. Particularly when Magic roved the brilliant spoil on Glass (i think) by his teamate.

That to me signifies everything football smarts means. I had a great view of MOL backing into the goalsquare for that contest, and he decided not to contest the mark even though he had every right to. Instead he stays down, gets a nice spoil and bang, bob's your uncle. Was good to see McVeigh was roving the pack as well

You can't teach that quick thinking ability. MOL just has it.

It was frustrating as hell watching us build up a handy lead (and play some decent footy in the process, some of our best all year in fact) and see it cut back by the tenacious Eagles, but in many ways it followed the pattern of close Sydney-West Coast matches - one team would invariably get a break on the other, but the other team would ALWAYS come back just as it looked like they were in trouble, setting the stage for a thrilling last quarter as we saw again last night!

Interesting that the Eagles' forward line in the last quarter looked more dangerous when LRT was off injured. As scary as it might sound he is still an important part of our structure... (Yes, so is Roosy's hairpiece, but you know what I mean )

Thought the Eagles looked to have a lot more upside than us based on the performance of their youngsters last night, for us it was the old heads like Goodes, O'Keefe and Hall who led the way, but for West Coast it was the likes of Kennedy, McKinley, Masten, Scott Selwood and the surprising Cockie who gave their fans plenty of hope for the future. And after just one year down the bottom.

Once again, it was Kirk, desperately diving into packs, laying tackles and firing off handballs, who dragged us over the line again, he epitomises the club's ideology as the Lobster expressed so eloquently in another thread only this time it was Jack who provided the finish!

That said, I think the last quarter will have provided an important lesson for our youngsters and given them a sense of the rivalry between these two clubs, which hopefully lives on long after the last member of the '05 premiership team has had his last kick in footy.

I think the absence LRT is going to produce a hole this season....much to the surprise of many.

Apparently Jolly staggered off on the wrong side of the interchange gate. Jolls was actually coming off when the ball came to him in play. He disposed of it and wasn't concentrating - I think he was exhausted. Can't imagine why.

LOL! Oh @@@@, don't mention that. I live in WA and wanted Daylight Saving in, but of course was outvoted by the farmers and silly old women who think there washing will fade.
