White to go into defence, Pyke or Currie (who apparently is tearing it up in the reserves) to come into the ruck.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

I have never doubted LRT. He's ungainly and he had a bad year after he came back from his injury, but he's still a valuable player for us, and one of my personal favourites.

You people are insane. That's the last thing we need. Someone giving away frees right in front of goal just because they don't know how to play.

Wont happen. While you dont need too much football smarts to play ruck , the way the rules are now , you just couldnt have someone like Pyke in the backline at this stage of his development. He would have free kicks against him all day.

LRT will be sorely missed and there doesnt seem to be anyone readymade to fill his spot.

Well i remain an LRT bagger. And I felt vindicated as a ball came down on LRTs head in the first minutes after he and lynch (?) overran the ball. He stuck his hands out and thought - no too diffiuclt I won't go for it and pulled his arms back in. And I remember a number of times where he has done similar things - but I think about all his defenders on this site so i say well everyone makes mistakes so I won't blame him for individual moments.

And I recognise that he is important for our structure because we have few tall defenders. And against the will minson type player he has a chance.

But that is as far as Im am prepared to go - don't let anyone tell you he is a star or any better than barely competent. He shouldn't be judged on his bad games - what collingwood do to him, and pavlich does to him, and bradshaw/brown do to him they do to a few other defenders as well.

But lets not pretend that he is other than a guy who will do his best but his best may not be good enough.

I remember going to watch North play richmond nearly a decade ago and jason mccartney stood someone like david bourke while glen archer played on richo. And mccartney was a lot taller and a lot bigger but was clearly playing on the second best attacker. And that is LRT - provided he has some pretty decent defenders around him he'll be OK to play on the slow lumbering resting ruckman or the second or third attacker.

I'm betting Jesse still has nightmares about playing Tredrea in the pre-season comp - they'll run with a combo of B2, Teddy, Grundy with the ruckman helping out.

Some teams go at 100% in the pre season comp and other teams go at 75%, some players go at 100% in the pre season comp and others dont. Following what I am trying to say. Port easily accounted for us by 65 points if i remember correctly. Bet that doesnt happen this time.

Well, I'm not sure if you're suggesting Jesse was sand-bagging or whether you're suggesting Tredrea wasn't going at it 100%, but either way I don't think it paints a pretty picture for White vs Tredrea on Sunday.

Basically I'm saying that the swans were not going flat out in that game and it was pretty obvious Port Adelaide were. Players dont apply as much pressure onto their respective opponents in those games as what they do in the regular season. I cant see Tredrea dominating us like he did in that game. For what its worth, play Bolton on him and if they decide to have a ruckman rest up forward(Lade or brogan) then send White down their to mind him and at the same time send Jolly to our forward line and let Goodes ruck(wont happen I know, but geez it would be great.

Jesus Christ, White wasn't exactly towelled up in that game, you know! I think people's memories are beginning to warp that matchup into a caricature of what it really was. Tredrea won, but it was far from a shellacking! How many did Tredders kick on White? From memory there was one in which White had the ball kicked backwards to him (whoever kicked it obviously forgot the NAB Cup rules), and White was promptly set upon by Tredrea. I was at the game, and I can tell you that White was far from terrible.

                      I really don't get this.

If we're going on pre-season form, surely Grundy would start on Tredrea. And yes, BSA5, Tredrea flogged White that day. More, I think, because White was asleep than anything else.

Nah neither do I. the Kid has improved out of sight from 2008 ressies, I am very pleased with him. His concentration has improved markedly. for Pete's sake he is 20 years old!!!!! He is a unit, but a not fully formed unit. Not many are a Plugger or Tim Watson. He will be just fine.

Something I've noticed with LRT is his bad timing for jumping, in particular his spoiling which can often lead to head high penalties or dragging down/holding opponents

No LRT in the side today and we mange to smash PORT!!!!!!

I stand by my past threads - that this guy is too weak in 1x1 contests, has
poor disposal and questionable decision making.

I am the first to admit that he had a great 2006 GF, but he really has struggled since and improved little.

I for one am hoping that his injury opens the door for an opportunist in the ranks.

I have yet to see todays game, but I am of the opinion that the defence looks far better without Leo Barry in it. LRT has been ok this season.
