Its possible that he might be but i would think he has a pretty good defence - he tried to get him with the arm first and the ball was on the deck and he was expecting the ball to be kicked forwards off the ground - its just that the player picked the ball up cleanly and brushed through the tackleComment

A trip to the reserves is the one he should be taking. If Cyril had stayed on the ground it would have been a massacre. He beat St Jarrad three times in four contests. By the way did anyone see our 31 year old tagger take an overhead? Crouchie should be kept in reserve for when we can play him on 30 year old plus small men.Bevo bandwagon driverComment

It is pretty ridiculous to claim that Rioli would have massacred Crouch because we didn't get the chance to see. And even if he had soundly beaten him, there is still a strong probability that Crouch would have been best able to minimise the damage. If Cyril had stayed on and Crouch gone off (as he did) or not been in the team in the first place, Jack would have to have been moved to Rioli, removing him from the creditable shut-down role he did on the dangerous Bateman.
Given the lack of speedsters in the squad, Crouch earns his spot. He proved last week he still has some good football in him.
For all the doomsayers (on here and in the media) who continue to hark on the number of older Swans in the team, the reason they are there is because they are fine footballers who have stood the test of time and proven that they are up to it.Comment

In the first quarter there were four contests. Rioli both beat him to the ball by meters (the first led to the first Hawks goal) in three. Crouch beat him once in a one one on one. If the bout had gone on Rioli would have on that early ratio created a number of goals for Roughead (in particular) who has made a career of running on to Rioli lace outs and Rioli would have kicked a few himself. One of the ways in which young midfielders learn their craft is by being given run with roles with good opposition midfielders or small forwards. Crouch remaining in the firsts is actually hampering the development of our young and very inexperienced midfielders by taking a place in the firsts that should be open for young player development. Different story if he was KPP or a playmaker. Sunday also showed he no longer has the pace to stay up with the quickest, he is abysmally weak overhead and cannot play on strong marking small forwards and is at the stage of his career where he adds absolutely nothing to rebuilding. I take it we all agree now that we are in the rebuilding season?Comment
