Funny that there are 27 from Victoria, because that's about how many of us would turn up to Swans games in Victoria in the early 90s.

A proud Novocastrian who shunned both forms of rugby for the high-flying boys in the (then) tight shorts. Recently departed the Inner West to become a Homebush resident who happily still travels anywhere around Sydney or Australia to watch the Swans.
Patterns emerge, but do they mean anything? No.

Hate to burst your bubble Swannette, but "Homebush" is still considered "inner west".
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Hmm, well, I refuse to identify as Pennsylvanian in origin, and when they finally mint me as a brand new Australian I'll probably still be paying off my li'l dacha in Balmain, so ... Inner West for me too.

Very interesting to read the ownership of each area and the dislike of certain labels....so it is not just us Tasmanians who have their parochialism. Don't lump me in with those Hobart people...much rather be lumped in with Melbourne.

Have to travel to Hobart this coming weekend as My eldest has an exhibition at a gallery in Salamanca Place(Despard Gallery). This is the second weekend in a row I have had to go down to that place.!!!!!!!!

I'm one of those lucky few originally from the Riverina who grew up with both AFL and league. Many played AFL on a Saturday and League on a Sunday. I like to think that its enlightened people like us who are responsible for cross-code pollination of improvements - things like improved tackling techniques in AFL as well as improved kicking techniques in league. I live in the eastern suburbs of Sydney now though...

Just shows you how much the area has changed, doesn't it? When it was an abbatoir, it was condemned as pure western suburbs.

Your right, It's still Western suburbs to me. Inner West finishes at Ashfield as far as I'm concerned.

Sorry if I have offended those past the Ashfield border.

Gosh, it's hard to to settle the primary region.

The first dalliance was in Melbourne, because after playing one year of Rugby there following transfer from Sydney, I recognised that the competition for girls was too hard with all the single NZ, South African, UK and interstate men. So, started playing AFL, and my teammates had SISTERS!

But the real love affair was when I returned, and the Swans were based at the old Paddington Showground. I watched them train, and hang about, and had easy access to an empty SCG, from the Eastern Suburbs.

Then back to Melbourne, and I lived in 200 metres from Lake Oval, and watched the old supporters get such a buzz from the '05 victory and the '06 battle fought.

Now a (Blue) Mountains man - but soon to be a Canadian Mountains man until after the Winter Olympics.

So, I guess Eastern Suburbs because that was swan-love.

See if you can nab a moose or 2 while you're over there and bring them back with you. They seem to like the climate in Sydney.

I still think of Homebush as being part of Sydney's west, although it doesn't bother me.

You can make a case for Homebush being part of the inner west as it adjoins Concord and Strathfield. Concord has always been regarded as inner west.

Once you move past Homebush, however, you run into Lidcombe to the south and Silverwater to the north, and I doubt anyone in Sydney sees these areas as anything other than western suburbs.

After driving there 3 days in a row from the city, I'd classify it as West.
1/2 hr drive is not "inner" in my books!!

                              Yep agree with that!

The again, I seem to classify anything west of the harbour bridge as 'west'

Yeah, but it can take that long from Newtown to the city too.
