The herald sun have updated their website

'UPDATE 12.05pm: MICHAEL O'Loughlin is expected to announce he will play out this season before retiring.

O'Loughlin, who missed the opening five matches of the season with on-going ankle problems, has struggled to make an impact for Sydney since resuming in Round 6.

The veteran forward is set to announce his retirement at a press conference with Paul Roos at 2pm this afternoon. He is expected to announce that he will play out the season, giving him the chance to reach 300 games. He would be the first Swan to reach that milestone.'

Hopefully he will play out the season (At least get to 300)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        double ditto.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

All of a sudden I'm in the camp that believes the Swans should blood youth at all costs. Sentimentality is a luxury the Swans can't afford anymore. Time to make some tough decisions. I don't think that anything is to be accomplished by carrying Micky O through the rest of the season.

He'll cramp our forward potency and be at the expense of a young kid. It?s a lose lose.

Which "young kid" would you bring in next week to replace him?

Anyone would improve from time in the firsts apparently. The quicker the better apparently.

It's a pity about MOL because I thought his form was pretty good before his injury last year.

Ongoing injures would be the only reason for ending it all early.
Failing that, he will play out and hopefully get to 300.

it seems in melbourne media that the swans r on the way down and our list is @@@@,so mayb MickyO will retire straight away to give the young fellas a go till seasons end.......I really hope he doesnt he deserves the 300 games cause hes been a legend for the Swans.Cmon Micky hang around till u get the 300 all the supporters want to see u get it.

As a club, we need a 300 game player...

and it won't really hurt to carry the old MOL for a few more games. Been a very good player and great servent for a long time.

Well done to him but it is his body and particularly his slow pace that let's him and the team down, not "the new players running through the midfield" that Roos states as the reason. Interesting how Roos is so publicly harsh on some (e.g. our only true champion - Goodes) and gives excuses for the old MOL not performing.
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.

Our list has been like that since 2005 according to the Melbourne media.

My picks is that the 300th game will be at ANZ against the Cats - maximise publicity, revenue etc
