If you take Saints and Geelong out of the equation all team this year have ups and downs. True the Dogs, Pies and Lions are on a good roll but that could change and probably will with all the ups and downs and despite some easy draws.

The season may be shot I don't know. But just like in previous years, and this year in particular, there is no fundamental reason why the roller coaster that is the Swans will not go up again.

I don't think the Swans will make the 8 this year, alas. They can't afford to lose any more than 3 games (and possibily only 2) for the rest of the year. With games to come against Geelong, St Kilda, Brisbane, Collingwood (in Melbourne), and an away game against Carlton, such a defence is unlikely.

So as fans, like in the second half of 2002, let's just enjoy one game at time.

Realistically, we're not going to finish any higher than 7th or 8th and no lower than 10th or 11th. We've won 5 games and we'll win more games so we're not going to finish bottom 4.

I just think while you're still in finals contention (one game out) you should be having a crack at making them.

Agree with P46, we wont be bottom 4 so it makes no sense to "tank" just so we can get pick 8 instead of pick 10.

We did win a final last year, remember? It was a great night, and I want to win one this year, too. At best we can make the 2nd week of the finals, but getting those games into Veszpremi, Bird, Jack and especially Barlow is invaluable!
