that is why I was so surprised when he stuck for Hall at one point last night and said to the others get off his back - perhaps he was thinking about the things he did as a player (which far outweighed anything that Baz has done) remember some of the cheap shots he did week in week out in.

      fair call

McVeigh, allow me to be contentious - I believe his B&F was half B&F, half most improved. Has another level to go to be true ?" grade, particular when burdened with the heavy tag.

Harsh, he's not at Judd or Ablett's level (not many are) but he is A grade and would be easily ranked in our top 5 if not top 3 players

And Meredith - If he was A Grade why isn't he cemented in the 1's?

bit hard when you're out injured for the rest of the season!!

Alot of these guys have the potential to be A grade - but I'm a runs on the board kind of guy.

On a side note - have you heard Philip Hughes in the next Bradman?

Dont know what it is, possibly because their(media personalities) favourite teams were @@@@e and inconsistent and the swans were the exact opposite. Now that the swans have slipped and are on the way down, they all just can't wait to stick the boot in. You guys in Sydney consider yourself fortunate that you're not in the fishbowl that is Melbourne, because honestly as a tragic swans supporter, I absolutely hate the way some of these footy expert media types lay into the swans. I sometimes wonder if they even watch swans games when they make those comments, I think they just see the result and assume things.
Oh, it is shocking the treatment we have got down here by the media! Types like BT, Mark Robinson, Walls, Sam Newman etc. I have always wondered why is there so much hatred? Could it be the melbourne - sydney city rivalry perhaps? They love to report bad things re the swans and talk about it like they are loving it! It still irks me when after the 05 gf win, people here were saying it was a fluke and more or less tipped us to miss the 8 in 06! It has been very satisfying to prove these @@@@@ wrong over the last 6 years and if we could SOMEHOW make the 8 this year it would prove them wrong again!

I must admit, that annoyed me as well. I remember listening to SEN one morning midway through the 06 season, Andrew Maher asked Brownless to nominate which teams had thier 'premiership window' open or closed at that point of time, Maher asks him(Brownless) if the swans premiership window was open or close(midway through 2006) and Brownless replies... the swans premiesrship window is closed. I was just gobsmacked. From that day onwards I have never taken anything he says seriously.

I have often been bewildered by the obvious bias and indeed prejudice against the Swans be many of the Melbourne media. I think this smacks of the VFL days. Also resentment that this is not an AFL state, and how dare the Swans be successful. Pathetic twits the lot of them.

Thank heavens newbys are coming on line such as Pickering, Darcy, et al who are somewhat shocked by the prejudice and have the balls to say so. It will take time, probably ten years until the television and radio stations get rid of their own versions of vilification. It has been done on one level, it needs to be addressed at the other one.

The premiership window is just about maximising variables and odds in your favour - it guarantees you nothing and ignores the importance of taking your chances or sheer luck, whether that be with injuries, shots for goals etc.

The fact about afl, particularly with drafts and salary caps, is that generally (other than outliers) any team can beat any team on the day and the tables and my tipping tends to reflect that. Sure it's hard to maintain over a season but then again like Geelong last year in some cases you only need to stuff up once to wreck an entire season.

Despite all the Swan's issues, it wouldn't have taken that much of a difference for better results to have gone our way against the Hawks, Pies and Crows and the season would look so much different - history is scattered with such examples.

In 2005 we took advantage of the breaks that came our way and I'll take that over a so called premiership window any day. In any case, the kids will come good.

Agree. Absolute DH - never says anything positive about the Swans and constantly sniggers behind his hands.

He also shouts too much - like Jason Dunstall.

Correct me if I'm wrong - but wasn't Meredith dropped prior to the injury?

the thing i have noticed is that most so called experts know nothing about our younger players anyway and just assume a lot of stuff. it's probably due to us being based in sydney and not playing them a lot but they shouldn't just come out with these sorts of things without actually knowing for sure.

as if leigh colbert knows anything about our younger players.

League Team episode before Pyke's debut had BT getting completely stuck in to Pyke personally. He didn't let up.
Colless told Liam Pickering at the game that if he didn't apologise and lay off, Fox would no longer be welcome in Sydney's rooms. Pickers told BT that in the next episode the following week.

thanks for the summary. taylor sounds like a dick. although if they did get banned from sydneys rooms i doubt it would make foxs display of sydneys games any worse. whatshisname, the guy who had that heart attack or whatever last year was a real loss.

My theory is that most of the establishment love goals. In their minds, free flowing direct football which results in plenty of goals is king and anything other than this model is to be frowned upon...forever. The bloods did not fit this model as they refused to run forward of their man and refused to turn the ball over as they had worked too bloody hard to get it. It irked the establishment no end as, more often than not, neither team kicked many goals. We have a crap list of youngsters hey? Well there is also a brand of football being played over the border that is not very attractive, and won?t win many games.
