Buchanan didn't play the last quarter. Not sure if it's injury related or because he had a predetermined match time limit set

MOD was crunched again in the last this time by teammate Orreal. Will be feeling pretty sore tomoz

Very lively performance by the ressies this afternoon, right from the word go. Could well be that around a dozen or so Swans is around the "tipping point" - ie enough for their superiority to start to count. And have to allow for the size and strength of Ablett (very occasionally), Schmidt, Moore and Monty rotating through the middle. Hannebury is no skinny teenager either. There were also three scholarship players out there, plus a couple of very lively tiny tots who made real contributions.

Pretty hard to pick who the best were - it was an even effort across the listed players. White probably could - maybe should - have kicked a dozen or so, such was the dominance of the Swans midfield and the number of times they kicked it to him. So was probably just a good game, rather than a great one.

Liked the work of both Pyke and Orreal in the ruck. Both were clearly trying to direct their taps, rather than just get hand to ball, and several times put it down the throat of Moore, or Schmidt, or Hannebury. Pyke, in particular, also did some good stuff around the ground. His contested marking isn't at all bad for someone so raw.

DOK worked hard, mostly off half-back but sometimes pushing forward. Was strong in the air for his size and generally used the ball well.

If only MOD were a better kick because it's all that's between him and the makings of a pretty good footballer. Some of his aerial work was fantastic (as usual). And just to prove he does have some idea with boot and ball, he threaded a perfect 20m pass to Ablett through traffic into the forward 50. But most of the time it was just kick and hope with him.

Gilly kicked the first goal of the game and then went a little quiet. But he got better and better as the game went on, with countless runs from the back half and penetrating kicks forward.

        Murphy?
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

Murphy didn't see a whole lot of ball, but then much of the game was played down the other end. Also don't think he spent a huge amount of time on the ground. Looked like he needs a few more gallops to get some fitness back, which is understandable.

Monty has a compound fracture of a finger but according to Bulldog thinks he will be right to go next week. Of course scans will be done etc, but.

Brad Seymour likened Dan Hannebery to Matty Nicks in his ability to stay on his feet and stay balanced. I agree, he is a gem.

            Loved Taylor Gilchrist's efforts.

Had a wonderful time watching White. He was mad he was dropped (but he didn't play well last week, soo....) and he got even. Eight goals six thank you very much.

My opinion is that Schmidty will be good to go in a few weeks.
As enthusiastic as MOD is I don't know if he is going to step up.
Same with DOC, but I prefer his game.
Murphy has become a big unit, you may not recognise him at the present, he has hair. Not backward in coming forward and he is very very quick off the mark. IMO he may get a game this year, who knows.
The rucking looks a lot more accomplished, Jake and Mike have a lot more confidence and style/touch.

I enjoyed this game, not just the fact they won, but it was the effort all round.

He has curly hair. Not a bad game, didn't line up on Hughes as I expected, RBN had that job. As I posted previously I think he gives too much leeway to his opponent on the lead. He loves the tough stuff tough, likes to tackle, goes up for the acrobatic spoils which had some of us spectators extremely worried for his heavily taped shoulder.

I thought Gilly was excellent in the second half, provided quick run off the halfback line and used it really well. He certainly has that bit of flair about him, in the mould of Davis and Veszpremi. He's still a skinny lad, which would probably be the only thing holding him back from a promotion.

Ablett in the forward line for pretty much most of the day, only got a run on the ball late on. I'm not sure if this is a precursor to a similar role in the seniors or was because he had played limited games recently. He was okay, but I don't think he has any real attributes that would make him a success down there.

Pyke will probably get a callup next week, it looks like they prefer him to play against the weaker ruck division - Ryder and Hooker wouldn't cause too many headaches. White should also get a callup but as a key forward, leave the rucking to Pyke or the Goodes/Richards/LRT triumvirate that managed today.

Not sure about that liz, I was sitting near the bench and I don't recall Murphy coming off. As you said, the ball was down the other end most of the time, so he had plenty of opportunities to rest!

I get the feeling the club is dead set keen on getting Murphy a game or two this year. So if he can stay uninjured I reckon we'll see him for a couple of games or so late in the year.

They've given Orreal's goal to Gordon, I'm not sure how you could mistake Orreal for anyone else. Orreal did kick it right, I wasn't daydreaming was I?

Very interesting best list - I remember Gordon doing some nice things but to have him above White's 8 goal effort, not sure about that.

I thought he was very good in patches, especially just after half time when he used his evasive skills to great effect and very clean Inside 50 entries. He seems to be the 'unofficial' captain of the side, he was very vocal along with DOK in revving the team up after half time.

I almost fell off my chair upon reading this....the thing that constantly annoyed me about Matthew Nicks was that he fell over all the time. He was constantly on the ground and looking as though he had the wrong boots on no matter the conditions. My kids can attest to me screaming at the tele for him to "stay on your feet Nicks."

Keep with the good news on Hanneberry though.
