Room in the salary cap - who do we throw money at?

With the number of senior players that have retired, are likely to go and with Kirk & Goodes likely to be placed on the veterans list (with only half their annual contract therefore counting), we should have substantial room in the salary cap to chase some serious talent.

I have no idea who is 'available', but given this is a forum with plenty of 'experts' - who should be targeted for a trade? Roughhead would look great in red and white.

    Cheers

I think we need a rather no-so-subtle PR campagin amongst player managers.

We also need to subtly hint to the managers our areas of interest:

    FORWARDS - Baz and Mick
BACKS - Leo is gone, we need another general
MIDS - Kirky will play only half of next season, be it game time or weeks etc.

We're not on dire straights, we need some luck with injuries and to build some depth.

The marketing dept also needs someone to hang their hat on.

We are sitting on a pile of cash, just need to be able to spend it.

And before everybody jumps up and down here about keeping our draft picks, if we are going to use the big money we will need to depart with atleast our first pick.

Otherwise bank it and use the first pick next year on the best available (which is likely to be a midfielder/utlility type).

Pavlich will be available at the end of the year. Out of contract and out of patience with the anchors. We are probably the only club that could afford him.

I wouldnt mind if we went after Gamble or Lonergan from geelong. Both seem to be taking back seat to the tomahawk and maybe looking for more opportunity, and either still wouldnt cost us alot

Pavlich wont be 29 til after the 2010 season, still has at least 4 years of very good footy left. Imagine him being there while Johnston, White etc are delevoping? Oh please let it be!

We may have lots of money for the player BUT we need draft picks etc for the Club he's from. This we can't afford.

I would wet my pants if we could pull that off. Wet.my.pants.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

We shouldnt be buying anyone for high draft picks.

But what we do need is a disgruntled hot head looking for a new club and anonymity. Seems to have worked for us twice in the past.

There is no way Hawthorn will give up Roughhead , christ they wouldnt even trade Spida when he was on the outer three seasons ago.

Pavlich wont be interested. Adelaide boy , not looking to escape from the fishbowl of AFL in the southern states.

Maybe Rutten - he has had a tendency to punch on and I hear his relationship with his girlfriend aint what it used to be.
