His kicking is OK. I haven't been concerned about it since I saw him kick a goal from an angle in the preseason match at Optus. And he's likely to continue improving for a while yet. No need to get our knickers in a knot.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Good game from the moose today. He out did Jolly in the first quarter and was consistent throughout the game. Shame he missed his attempt at goal. We know he's been encouraged to handball (which he has mastered) but it's time to encourage the guy to take a punt.

He actually did some good tap work at centre bounces but still doesn't do much around the ground. Lets hope that in time that will come. Interviewed really well on 3AW after the game. Said that the hardest part is reading the game and knowing where to run.

If any other number 2 ruckman from a standard AFL background had done what he did today, we would be content. Not delirious, but satisfied. What he has achieved is very satisfactory. As report cards used to say.

Funny, my report cards always used to say "unsatisfactory - lacks concentration, disrupts the class and needs to increase his effort".

Perhaps i'd be suited to a role at Richmond then?

On a serious note, i thought his tapwork was pretty good. But yeah, needs to work on his general play and kicking.

I agree Di. Each week you see an improvement in some aspect of his game. He's heading in the right direction.

Considering some of the cart horse we've had in the past he is work in progress.

His tap work yesterday was superb, he didnt do much around the ground and this is something they need to work on with him over the summer, but after watching the game and then catching the replay, god some of that tap work went straight down the throat of some of our midfielders.

I was quite impressed with big Mike's work when he didn't have the ball yesterday. He's becoming quite adept and putting his big body in the way to block or shepherd. He's doing a lot of the 1% stuff that doesn't figure in the stats. He strikes me as a real team player.

                            Noticed that as well.

The guy just improves week after week.

Me too. He is obviously bringing his attributes to the game, even if at times it consists of being too wide to get around. Its kind of fun watching this young man grow into the game, isn't it.

I must admit thought his ruckwork was very good yesterday and his general positioning was at a much better level than in prevoius games.

Still, though Im not convinced as yet. Hope Im proved wrong.
He was up against probably the weakest opposition he will get and he was good , not superb , not poor though more than a pass on the day.
