Yep, checked it when I planned my trip to Canberra ... very diasppointing that of all weeks this is the week they aren't playing in Canberra!!!

you'd think the swans might have some say in planning the reserves fixture around when the seniors play in canberra as well.....they obviously do that for the scg.

It was such a good game! I'll try and recall everything I can...
Murphy kicked 3 goals in the first quarter, it was awesome!
They had too many listed players, so one of them always had to stay on the bench, which made my job quite busy today!!
Dan O'Keefe may have injured himself again. I think he hurt his ankle just before half time and didn't play again for the rest of the game. He was walking around though so he should be right!
Leo played abut 70 mins, he was so good in the forward line!
Umm what else can I tell you...
Nathan Gordon was awesome as well..
Laidlaw kicked 4.1 and he played well and almost got into a fight lol
buchanan had 37 possessions, moore had 36, braba had 32, schmidt had 33 and crouch had 28...
other than that they just played awesome!!

With a midfield of Buchanan,Moore,Brabazon,Scmidtt & Crouch no wonder we smashed them with those possesion numbers. MOD & Thornton in best
Interesting who will play next week given we need to play youth according to our latest reports.
I reckon we'll see Buchannan and Murphy next week for Hannaberry (school) and Richards (injured)

No footy in Canberra due to the Rep game - Sydney v ACT. Maybe this will be the warm-up to the 1's match ?? No one has mentioned the top-ups of which Dylan McNeil was one. U18 RAMS capt and had a very sound if not a tad above average game for a top-up player. Was very positive in all that he did, went looking for the pill, put his head over it, and always delivered to good options. Hope he plays again soon so we can qualify him for finals (not sure how many games one needs to rack up?). A lot of people are putting Murphy on a pedistal but I believe from what I saw today he either has nails in his boots or he can't get out of 2nd gear when attempting to run at full tilt. Maybe he needed his asthma puffer, Im not sure? Thought Liadlaw was very good for his run after injury, Leapin was extremely sharp and looked super fit and springy! Pykeyz ruck work is getting better with every match. His eyes are always on the cod, his leap is fantastic and his tap work is old school and it WORKS! Nipper Gordon was good today, nice hands/grabs all day, delivered to good options, his kicks at goal were very sound, none of this half step stuff in his approach, to be complete I would like to see him throw his body on the grenade every now and again. Just produce that 1 super hard ball contest that makes us all stand up and go "yep he's in, sign the kid!!" Thanks for a good day ressies, and lets suport this group as I believe they can still emulate the feats of last year.

For gawsakes, Leo Barry, a guy who will go down as one of the most legendary Swans of the 21st century when the history is written, has maximum 6 games left in his career. If we demand one more game from him to get match-fitness, with the Canberra bye he'll have a maximum 4 games left. That's too high a price to pay.

Doesn't matter if he starts on the bench-- get him in the 22 and give the guy a game. Leo as 3rd marking forward option with White and MOL is nice, but he'll also provide valuable flexibility down back if our defence starts embarrassing itself in the absence of Ted.

Beyond that, prioritise the guys who are playing for their careers who've earned themselves a promotion: Schmidt and MOD. (Would love to see Laidlaw get a game, but it is too early.) I suspect that Thornton has already done enough in 2009 to earn himself a run in 2010. My impression, which I hope is right, is that Moore is guaranteed to keep a spot. (Remember, the bar for survival is set pretty low where we are going to lose/have lost so many to retirement.)

Buchanan, Murphy and Barry for Richards, Hannebery and Bevan? Perhaps Malceski will be on the fringes as well if his late withdrawl was only a minor issue - after all, he was named in the side originally.

Pyke was also a late withdrawal with the "flu", I would image he'd be up for consideration again.

Great article. Leo will retire - no doubt about that. Still would be great to see him back playing seniors in a couple of weeks and then retire. Very hard year for him.

If he's going to play as a leading forward, fitness shouldn't be that much of a concern. Most of his running would be in short bursts.

Bevo only got the late call up, had an ordinary match and made some bad errors...can't see him holding his spot this week.
So maybe out go...Bevo, Richards, Hannebery(though I'd like to see him given another run) and Ablett
In come.. O'Dwyer, Pyke, Barry and Laidlaw

Don't know who LRT will match up on agaist the Dees ??

Liam Jurrah LRT would make a good step ladder.

Nah i reckon he'd be on Stefan Martin

No chance, the club committed to allow him to complete his year 12 studies and he should be left to do so now.

Maybe given another game if it is in Melbourne, but he won't be training so realistically won't get another chance this year.

Time for Schmidt, Laidlaw and possibly DOK in a few weeks to get a run for the rest of the year.

Good to see Jake Orreal amongst the goals for the second week in a row. He is such a bean pole you wouldn't necessarily pick him as a goal machine.....

Also the scholarshipies - Gilchrist and Norman, plus May. Nice one boys.
