Isn't that the one when Barlow had Fisher in a virtual sleeper hold? That was such an obvious free kick.

Check the replay it wasn't anything we don't see every week and there are no free kicks payed.
        Check the replay!
If thats a free the game is soft as butter

I'm torn. Was a game of two halves. Our first half left me feeling very positive. Even at 3/4 time I thought, they've thrown their best at us and we are still in this.
Blew us away and that is entirely down to where the young guys are at (Bird, Jack, Smith, Vez) but that will come.
I saw a lot to like.
I am not calling for Ablett's blood. I thought he was good in and under.
Bevo is frustrating and needs to be dropped. He needs to earn his place in the team. Although I know this is unpopular, I think he can earn it back.
White was great and that will be a good confidence boost for him. He's going to need it because it is going to be a challenging few weeks for our forwards.
          Also for GS14s tat...looks good.

A bit hard to pick some of the numbers at a distance though.

The numbers against the red stripe on the back made it impossible to pick them.

Hard enough from the middle of the top deck.
Tough last quarter to watch. Just lost the drive and pace in the last.

Looking for the new bloods. Where are they to come from.
Bird , Ves et al need a good pre season and build up to show their best form next year. This year will just be game time and awareness... speed is the key.
Saw some very clever play in the first half today. What happened ?
Carlton ran away and we looked lost around the ground.

New game next week ... closer to the next premiership ... keep the faith

Its gonna take a couple of years but the new bloods are def, bird, vesz, jack, barlow, hanneberry, meredith, etc.
In a couple of years, our strength will def be in the midfield. Schmidt, Jack, Bird, Meredith, Veszpa, Hanneberry, and McVeigh in the midfield will be awesome. All very good kicks, and all pretty fast. Our forward line has WHite, Johnston, Daniel O'Keefe, and one of Panos or Butcher, and our backline has LRT, Murphy, Smith, etc. A good ruck combo in Currie and Pyke will also help. Overall we are set for the future.

The big plus today, besides White, was Nick Smith.
I thought he did a really good job in shutting down Betts. Played him like a glove and spoiled well without giving away any frees.

                    Good job.

Barlow was playing well until he was taken out of the game into the back line, where he played like crap.

                    And HannaBarbera.
                    1st possession - Crushing tackle
                    2nd possession - Crushing tackle.
                    Welcome to the big time.

Even had a bit of a go throwing himself into a pack of blues jumpers and giving a bit of elbow punches to his opponent at one stage.

So with our early draft pick next season we need the most skillful young player we can get I guess.

We could always lose for the rest of the season, only win a couple next year, and take the top pick away from Gold Coast...

Hope it doesn't come to that 2 wins, though next season is looking tough.

Was impressed with Smith's game in the first quarter. Looks to be a smart player with plenty of courage.

What I liked about White was that when he timed his leads early in the game he was watching the ball and anticipating the kick forward so was able to give his defender the slip. Will be interesting to see how he goes against the top defenders! Body language also a vast improvement on our previous key forward

I didn't get to see the whole game and disappointed we fell away but from what I saw early on we've got plenty to work with!

Ablett may have his critics but he still offers more than Malceski at present. We need a bigger-bodied midfielder in there until some of the younger kids have had a couple more pre-seasons.

Ablett doesnt offer more than anyone especially not malcheski when mal is up and running he is an exceptional running defender with a delicious (as bruce would say) left boot. Ablett is a slow hack who butchers it the few times he gets it. He is holding back players who actually have the ability to improve.

Except it's a dud draft, due to a quirk of their birthdates most of the hot prospects will go to GC17 next year.....

Today's was one of those games. There'll be a few more as we rebuild.

But if you looked at the stats you'd think it was a two-goal game. The big difference was they scored 29 times on their 48 trips inside 50.
