If I was coach I would let all the premiership players play together for the rest of the year (leo, crouch, ablett, amon, bevo). I'd drop all the mid age non-premiership players Shaw, McVeigh (hurt), Mattner (form), Malceski (form) and let them relax and have a long soak in the hot tub. Look we know what we've got there so I dont need to see any more from them right now.
I would rotate the remaining players from ressies that I think are ready for senior footy or verging on it and let them play with our premiership heroes ( Vez, White, Moore, Schmidt, Laidlaw, Thornton, Pyke, DOK, Braba, Smith etc)...basically anyone who is fit.
This would satisfy my sentimental side and wanting to see our greats go out on the field not the back of a ute at half time as well as wanting to see the youngsters playing and confirm my view on the list for next year.

Get a new midfield coach...Ross Lyon would be good.
And forget about the Horse succession plan.

And I'll back you every step of the way with that. Word is he's coaching out Ballarat way, money may be too tight at the club to lure a top-line match-day coach to Sydney. The word I hear is that Horse is no slouch come match-day, though I'm not sure he's in the same bracket as Laidley and Eade.

We don't know what the Horse's ideas on coaching will be. Everyone thinks he will be a Roos clone. But Roos was an assistant to Eade and he revamped our gameplan when he took over. What the Swans are hoping to keep via succession planning is the culture of the club - not necessarily the gameplan.

However I do agree that a refreshing of the other assistants is worth considering. Blakey, Berbakov and the stoppage bloke from the WCE haven't (to me) set the world on fire. Our greatest successes came with Lyon with the mids and Horse with the forwards.

I reckon Harley is a must and perhaps Adam Simpson.

I agree .Someone like Laidley could have been the difference between wiining and losing a few games this year and a finals spot.Good suggestion!

Roos was one of Eade assistants for 1-2 years only.
Horse has been with Roos for the last 6 years. And has been his right hand man for the last 2. I think it would be very surprising if he were to make significant changes to personel or game plan.

I reckon thats rubbish. I hope one day to succeed my current boss in his position but just because I have worked for him for four years doesnt mean I agree with nor will I follow the way he goes about his business should I take over at some stage. As a current second in charge I may challenge some of his decisions , I assist where possible but personally we have different overall outlooks on the way certain things are done and while I respect that while working for him, I would personally see it as insulting for people to suggest that just because I work for someone for a number of years that I will be their clone when I take over. The situation would be no different for Longmire and Roos.
