The Club Champion Dinner is building to be a HUGE night out! My camera's batteries are being rebooted even as I type.
Leo Barry Retirement????

I didn't actually. What I was thinking to myself as I was scrolling through them was that it is the end of the battle of the Harry High Pants between Leo and Lloyd.
Nothing bought a smile to my face more in our games against Essendon over the years than to see the two of them line up on each other and check out who won the battle. Of course a victory at the end made the smile wider.Comment

Those are some great pics of Leaping Leo.One of the most courageous and committed players to pull on the glorious Red and White. This guy epitomises the bloods spirit.
Thanks Leo for many great memories.
There are some awesome shots in the SMH gallery along with some funny ones as well!
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adoreComment

Another great highlight was the way he threw himself at the ball and crunched a Geelong player in the dyeing seconds of the Semi Final... keeping the contest alive before a ball up and Davis kicking "that goal"...
then the next week he physically took on and beat Gehric the Gorilla and typically danced around him running out of defence and launched another attack, leaving Gehric with a dislocated finger and bruised ego...
then the next week... the rest is history."As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.

Star quote from Leo.
Brave Barry decides his next great leap will be into retirement - RFNews''Generally, I didn't know what I'd do at any given time on a footy ground, and opposition players felt the same way."
I'm missing him already. The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment

LOL
That's a brilliant quote!
I also liked how he said in his press conference that he would probably only be remembered for THAT mark. As he said it I thought, not such a bad thing to be remembered for. And then he followed up with the same sentiment.

I'm just glad he wont be remembered for "THAT" shepard of Tyson Stenglein.
Would always scream for him to have a bounce when he backed himself in a corner. A great entertainer. He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

Fine piece on Leo from Martin Blake
Leaping Leo's key moments - RFNews - theage.com.auHe reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

Except he's got it wrong on the Stenglein incident. It was in 2005 that happened. 2006 was the year we won the Subi game (Magic's run-on goal) and lost the GF. 2005 we lost at Subi after we were robbed by the Stenglein decision and won the GF.Fine piece on Leo from Martin Blake

You're quite right of course. Mrs d pointed it out to me too. Apart from that, the best piece I've seen on Leapin. He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment
