I became a big fan after his athletic showings in the reserves last year. Being hampered by injuries this year, he really looked sluggish and the characteristic dash has been missing from his game. I had serious doubts about him making it as key defender, I think he would have been better up forward or on the wing.

Hugely disappointing, though watching him since his return from injury, he did look as if he wasn't enjoying it much.

If he has really been put off just through injuries, he should maybe have a chat with Daniel Currie or Brett Meredith. Or he could even give Kyle Coney a call for a reminder that you can get injured playing Gaelic footy too.

Just highlights how tough Tadgh was to stick it out for so long. It is hard to move to the other end of the world, gee some of the aussies can't even bear moving from one state to another. I personally would love to see Tadgh return. Looks like no de-listings - at this rate we won't have a team.

To his credit, unlike others, he has made the decision and conveyed it to the club in a timely manner so they can go into the trade and draft period knowing where they stand.

Disappointing decision all the same, but if he's heart is not in it and the burning desire to succeed in the AFL is not there, it appears the decision is for the best, both for Murphy and the club.

Looks like our Western experiment (Wheeler & Pyke - a bit of artistic licence with Sanford) is far more successful than our European one.

Time to look to South Africa? Or some US basketballers (Jesse & Jake look promising), but how about some of the US college 6'7"+ athletic types? Given the 25% success-rate from Ireland, if Roosy is going to think outside the box, there must be other boxes out there. If he ever plans to return to the US with Mrs Roos, he could be our recruiter over there...

It might not be his injuries either, he said if he wasnt happy with the contract he was offered with the Swans he would be going home, I say the club should employ a Social Coach for any new young recruits and their job is to get them married real quick to a Swans loving Sydney based with a big family here, nice young lady

                    According to the Swan's website...
"The Club accepts Murphy?s decision but remains open to the prospect that he may still reconsider a return to the Club in the future."

If this is the case, they can't delist him, leaving one less spot on the list.

He's not on the list now.

My point was they can't rely on Murphy to shore up their list of tall defenders, so may have to get another one thru trade or draft if they feel it is necessary.

Hang on, am I missing something?

He was not on the senior list, he was an international rookie so he was never on the senior list in the first place to delist or leave on.
