                  No, I'm not trying to be objective. We all know that Barry was given harsh treatment by the umpires, and in the end by the tribunal and media. But do we need to have a comparison of every incident to what would happen if it was Hall? We've had a dozen posts like that about different incidents in the past few days and pretty much all can guess the same answer.

                  As for the schadenfreude comment, I reckon that if opposition supporters were laughing at say Goodes crying after the 2006 GF or at Hall when he retired, we would call them scum. Swans supporters should know more than any other how maligned certain players can be. We all like Barry Hall not just because he's a Swan, but he seems like a genuinely nice guy off the field, and we take exception at unjustified criticism of him. To 'hate' players on the field during the game is pretty normal, but to take continued great pleasure in their genuine discomfort seems a bit much.
