"As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk
What a stuffup last weekend when you couldn't get a live broadcast of the Port v. Carlton game, critical at the time, but the Melb. v Freo game was on both FTA and FOX..... what was going on there? I followed the Port game on my mobile (live feed of scores)!

"He was proud of us when we won and he was still proud of us when we lost' Tami Roos about Paul Sept 06.
Doesn't an hour's delay mean they edit/package the first 2 qtrs - then play from 1/2 time? If so, disgraceful. Truly.

According to yourTV.com.au the match will be shown from 3:00 to 5:30pm on Sunday. Considering it's a 3 hour broadcast and the V8's have a tendancy to run overtime, I think it's all but certain that the "1 hour delay" will consist of highlights of the first half followed by live action. It's Channel 7, so they won't sacrifice any advertisment time, though. Bunch of @@@@suckers.
The match is not being shown on Fox Sports, they are screening Saints v North and Dockers v Bombers. So no way around there either.
Interestingly though, the V8's have moved past the Rugby Union into clear third place in the ratings. Unless Ten grabs sole rights to either the V8's or the AFL expect more of this turf war garbage on Channel 7: Home to Neanderthal Management who wouldn't know how to organise a booze-up in a pub.
The short answer is that HD isn't available nationally yet - some regional areas have no access.
The long answer involves many mentions of the political process, Senator Conroy's office, name-calling and finger pointing from different parties. (ie Seven says Nine isn't pulling their weight, Nine says the Government isn't doing enough, blah blah)

Actually, at the moment, 7 is the only station that is only briadcasting on one channel at the moment. There is ABC 1, 2 and HD, SBS 1, 2 and HD, Ten and One HD, Nine and Go, but 7 has just......7.
Personally I reckon Go was launched in a hurry to put the pressure on 7 to do something.
Channel seven strike again. Pathetic. Why on earth did they take the AFL on if they have no intention of providing the punters with the coverage they think they are getting. I would love to boycott them, but I barely watch anything anyway, its a dog of a station. So frustrating.

None of the digital channels are available nationally. The ability to screen exclusive sports content (like AFL) on them that doesn't violate anti-siphoning laws requires the channel to be available nationally for free. There are some kinks still there. Regardless of what can be seen in Sydney this is the case.

I'm in country Victoria. I wasn't talking about sport, just digital in general and 7 is dragging the chain. Which is typical of the way they treat their viewers.
