Wasn't enough for White. I guess Roosy wants at least two dominant performances before he'll give a player the call-up.

Agree. Could of at least had him on the extended bench i would have thought. Malceski apparently hasn't been burning it up in the reserves and doesn't Vesz have a fractured jaw or something?

Ed Barlow, Paul Bevan, Nick Malceski, Matt O?Dwyer, Michael Pyke, Kristin Thornton, Pat Veszpremi

            Like to see bench be:

Bevan (unfortuantely need him against Pies' small forwards)
Pyke (can take Wood any day of the week)
            O'Dwyer (deserves another crack)
Vezpremi (need more options down forward and love the guy)

Dropping Barlow = insanity. Confidence player, needs to know he has the support of the coaching staff after a couple of average-poor games (keeping in mind that these followed about a month of pretty promising footy). Vespa has struggled for fitness all year after an interrupted preseason, and has little to prove this year.

Agree with you on the others, however. Bevan was very, very solid against the Pies.

If it's like for like then Vesz will come in for Ablett who's been playing as a forward in recent weeks.

But I can't imagine Crouch being left out after today's announcement and the others don't deserve to be dropped.

The Big Ed also needs to know for sure that his call up is no sinecure. He has to work for his position, like a lot of the others.

Then again he may be carrying injury that we don't know about. Or something.....

Bev is a good lad and worked his butt off last week. He is also needs his confidence up and to know he is believed in. How on earth could such a shy reserved bloke get to be an AFL player!

Didn't Vespa have a cracked jaw, from the w/e?
Or has he been cleared of any serious damamge?

I hope our one man ruck division will be in good form against the Collingwood three. Poor old Jolly Jack Bolton will have his work cut out.

LOL. The pirate who follows the ball.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Of course he does. He's worked very hard for his place in the team, and earnt it. If he was consistently underperforming, then yeah, you wouldn't just keep him in the team to spare his feelings. But after just one poor and one average outing, following a fair bit of very promising football, he's the type of bloke that would be more likely to get back into form with persistence rather than with punishment. He's a carrot person. I'd suggest a bloke like Vespa, who seems to have no lack of confidence, would be a stick person.

The coaching ploy is for Goodes to give off a handball in the 1st minute for a gimme goal -

then stand back for a good game from the big Cheese.
