Of course he does. He's worked very hard for his place in the team, and earnt it. If he was consistently underperforming, then yeah, you wouldn't just keep him in the team to spare his feelings. But after just one poor and one average outing, following a fair bit of very promising football, he's the type of bloke that would be more likely to get back into form with persistence rather than with punishment. He's a carrot person. .
