Surprised no one has posted. It's of Paul Kelly but i have no idea what it looks like as I had to rush back to the ressies gameComment

Not all of us have fancy shmancy internet phones
Kells was great at the presentation, talking about his love of playing on the SCG. The sculpture is a real beaut, capturing his likeness very well. He is turningto his left, looking to fire off the sherirn somewhere over his left shoulder in mid-stride: a classic rover pose. Not much more to say really, except it's about 3 inches larger than real life and that he's got radar ears10100111001 ;-)Comment

Oh my L Ron Hubbard!! They got the muscles on his arms down to sweet perfection. (I know ... I've felt those guns on more than one occassion!)
It was really funny watching people walk past and rub his arms ... kinda like rubbing budda's stomach for luck.
It seemed to work tonight.
Great choice - well done SCG. The swans should have offered Kels a job ... any job.
My only worry is that the statute is open to vandalism. It's the only one that's outside the ground. All the others are behind the fence. Unfortunately, you have to worry about crap like that up here (and indeed everywhere else). I'd be heartbroken if some yobbo defaced it.Last edited by AnnieH; 22 August 2010, 12:43 AM.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Oh Annie, absolutely. It was quite a talking point. I said to someone they must have taken a cast of those arms......
I lov ed the fact that his socks were down around his ankles. If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

Those guns WERE cast. They would have had to have been from about 1999. They're damn near perfect.
I noticed his socks as well. I'm an old sook, but it bought a tear to my eye. He'd come through the race with his socks pulled up, and by the time he got through the banner, they were down around his ankles.
It's a fantastic tribute.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I took photo's on my telephone so if I can find the gizmo for connecting it to the computer I'll upload some photo's.
Rodney Cavilier did most of the talking on the day. Chairman Dick was there but didn't contribute. Basil Sellars spoke as well. I missed the start of it as I was watching the ressies so did anyone hear where it will actually be positioned?
Cavilier said how Paul had about 35 operations during his career and if I remember coreectly had his nose broken in the last game.
The Lady who sculpted the statue said she worked in IT and how Paul just came in to her Office and ripped his shirt off so she could draw him. So that is how the muscles were so accurate.
Players in attendance - Grundy, Bird, C Bolton. Naturally Roos and Longmire. Mummy and Jetta arrived at the ground and kept going. Rohan and Hanners arrived and stayed a few minutes and then moved on.
When I arrived at the ground at about 3:30pm, everything was set up for the unveiling. Stature covered in black cloth and only one person sitting there. I had a De Groot thought but kept walking. Anyone could have gone up and unveiled it as there was no one around.
Micky O wasn't there even though he was at the ground with the indigenous kids. So that was about it.In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.Comment
