I'd also add it's about supply and demand. Sell high and buy cheap doesn't just apply to young players.
Players may be seen on the way out by some clubs but that doesn't mean they can't play a valuable role at the Swans. These types of players present good value as the demand for their services is not as high as it could be.Comment

To me it was a geeup. Or a Collingwood supporter in disguise. Or a true idiot. And haven't we bitten well.It was on BF, a poster called SouthSwans I believe.
His reasoning was that we might get a Selwood type and Goodes only has a few years left so we need to cash in while we can. I don't know where to begin, seriously.
What message are we sending out if we trade a champion of our club, a player that will be considered a legend of the Swans (If he isn't already) with the only reason being we want another first rounder in the hope we find a gem?
The idea is so disgraceful and ridiculous that I struggle to imagine why anyone would suggest such a thing. I've watched Goodes since he was at VFL level and couldn't believe we actually picked him up, little did I know what an elite player he would become. Sometimes I think these supporters, who want to just ditch our great players for a couple of unknown kids, should just go and follow the Bombers or Carlton and then they can salivate over all their top 10 picks and get their calculators out to make sure their list is the youngest.

Ignore the silly twit.

Given Playfair will himself likely be a foil for White and Goodes, do you really think we need a foil for a foil? Honestly, the very last thing the club should be doing is structuring its recruiting around PLAYFAIR, of all players! He's a good chance of being delisted, for one thing, and even if he's not, he's still a depth player at best. One minute people want youth and draft picks, the next they want to keep all the old legends. I hope the Swans trade like no tomorrow if we can get some fresh but experienced blood.
Nathan Brown would be a great addition to the Swans. He'd be a nice foil for Playfair in our forward line.Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

A forward line based on Playfair and Nathan Brown would be the slowest and probably WORST in the AFL. I don't know why you'd even suggest such a thing."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk
