Good point there too Rev - the media can make or break someone, yet they are never held up for scrutiny (and lets face it very few of them can lie straight in bed!)I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Also he takes that out on the field, he's a headcase stay away
On the other hand The Australian reports Luke BAll is up for trade, son of a former player and Chairman of Selectors. Would have been ours without the Collo law?You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. Yes he did, but no-one was hurt or property damaged etc etc.and is a role-model.I don't want him anywhere near us.Does God believe in Atheists?Comment

Yes he did, but no-one was hurt or property damaged etc etc. No, he is a sportsman, not a role model. A role model is a parent or someone that a child knows, not someone that they see on TV. Putting celebrities up as role models is usually reserved for either the media, parents who want to avoid their responsibilities as role models or people getting sucked in by the media definition of a role model. IMO.You're entitled to that opinion, I couldn't care either way. If he became a swan I would love him as a member of our club, if not, my opinion of him will stay as it is.Actually - do all we end up with in the end is just a dickhead who can kick a ball?

Just don't go there.
You will never win.
I've tried before, but it seems there is no way of making any inroads into an argument over whether football players are role models.
Seems that they MUST choose their professional and have no rights to living a private lives, because there is a public interest in their profession.
I agree with you wholeheartedly - and to a degree I look forward to watching this thread if the argument develops.

Fev might be a bit of a tool when he's drunk but I don't think too many at Carlton would deny that he has a heart of gold. It's not like he committed a major crime other than poor taste and judgement.
Personally I think he'd be great at the club but I doubt he'll end up here.
Has anyone heard the rumours about the drunken antics of a member of the leadership group? I haven't but it's best not to assume all the Swans are sweetness and light, sugar and spice, or some of you moralisers might find your rigid world view gets a knock.Comment

I don't want Fev at the Swans, but it isn't up to me is it (unless the gig is open Colless? pm me).
I would love to see us develop our own forwards. It would be great in two years time when Jesse wins the Coleman and we look back and shake our heads, "draft Fev, what were we thinking?"."Fortunately, this is the internet, so knowing nothing is no obstacle to having an opinion!." No one is untradable, if the price is right. Conversely, I wouldn't say no to any players being traded to us, if the price is right!
Having said that, I doubt we will get Fev - the price will be high and there are doubts on the fit.
177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Included in Fevola's disgraceful behaviour on Brownlow night was sexual harassment of a young woman, a profanity-riddled spray on Judd, the smashing of a wine glass and an ugly animated attack on a highly regarded senior player from another club."Fortunately, this is the internet, so knowing nothing is no obstacle to having an opinion!." The fact Carlton would demand a first round pick simply makes any suggestion of a trade for Fevola out of the question.
Hopefully pick 6 will give us a 10 year player, whereas Fev has only 2 or 3 of his best years ahead of him.
Between Goodes, White, Johnston and Currie, we have good options up forward for the immediate and medium future."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

I don't think the Swannies want to give up pick #6.
SMH: Swans linked with move for fevola
Sydney has pick six in the national draft and Carlton may well ask for that in exchange. But it seems unlikely the Swans would deal with such a high pick, given the need for an injection of youth after a season in which they missed the finals for the first time under Paul Roos' coaching.
More likely is that the Swans would have to offer up a player or two. Perhaps Ryan O'Keefe, who wanted to come home to Melbourne last year before signing a lucrative, long-term deal to stay?

If Fev can win us a flag then who cares if he is a tool. Look at Locket before we recruited him and boy some people changed their minds 180degrees about him! Apart from that I see no point in the argument that he will help the youngsters. He will attract the ball away from them. Twin towers like White and Fev,Buddy and Roughhead, may work however. I feel we are not ready for a flag challenge and by the time we are Fev will be gone.If the current team was 2 years older recruiting Fev if he was 29 would be a stroke of genius. Now? No.it won't work!Comment
