Our trading isn't over yet. This gives us two days to find another ruckman and based on Hawthorn's form, we'll need the full 2 days to work out a trade for Kennedy and/or McGlynn. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a lot of deals done on Friday and we may pull out a Rhys Shaw type surprise.

The way the Burgoyne trade is going, we're probably wasting our time with Hawthorn. Is there a club with a worse trading reputation?

Well I'm not that particularly interested in getting Fevola but was wondering why do the deal now (assuming it is true). Possible reasons:

        1. They want to bid for fevola (hope we don't). I know Roos has denied interest.
        2. So they can get time to get a replacement (ie mumford etc)
        3. More time to work on trades for other players (Kennedy etc)

I just got this very sinking feeling. I'm going to pray to the Lord Jesus Christ that this isn't the case. We now have the chance to have a sensational draft.

Unless we use the wine Collingwood bought us over dinner to get Chris Pelchen drunk.

I doubt Fev really wants to go to us over Brisbane as the prospect of teaming up with a finals bound team and teaming up with Johno Brown will be too hard to ignore.

Plus i think he's already agreed to go to Brisbane, it's only up to Bradshaw and Rischitelli to agree.

Roos said another Ruckman has commited to come to Sydney

It's Shane Mumford has commited to Sydney, work out with Geelong tomorrow

expects a couple more players before the end of the week "Darren has made a fantastic contribution"

500,653,987,156,987,012,364,898 Times No Fevola commited to Jesse White

Sounded like and this is speculation Jolly deal went through as soon as Mumford commited

Another ruckman is coming in as well according to Roos... I'm guessing Mumford but perhaps there is another one in the wings.

I think it used to be that way (had to use draft picks you received via a trade), but that may have been one of the things relaxed in recent years to try and promote more trading.

Last year Collingwood notionally traded pick 93 to Brisbane for Corrie, but the last pick in that draft ended up being 85.

Although you would expect we're going to either use or trade picks under 50 - otherwise why hold out on the Bulldogs and Collingwood to attain them.

With Jolly, probably all we felt we could hold out for - if he does have genuine personal reasons/pressure to go back to Melb, we run the risk of damaging goodwill wiht our current playing group and looking like heartless pricks if we haggle too much for a slightly better deal. At least with O'Keefe we just didn't really get any offer of sorts so that wasn't an issue.[/QUOTE]

While Mumford is not in the same class as Jolly, he has plenty of potential and I'd expect we will get him for something very reasonable. I'll be very happy with him, though shattered to be losing Jolly, especially to the bludy magpies.
