A 28 (next year) year old ruckman, in his prime, is far more valuable to a team in their premiership window than a flashy midfielder, especially since their midfield is pretty good as it is.

It hurts a lot to think we could have gotten pick 9 (at the very least) if we just tried to deal with the Hawks instead.

Worrying about what we may give up toight/tomorrow, particularly to Hawthorn who have unrealistic ideas about their players worth.

Brett Peake for pick 48, Xavier Clarke for pick 60 puts the real value of McGlynn and Kennedy into perspective. I would have been happy to give our picks 46 & 54 for them.

Pretty sure we are not the fourth club in the Burgoyne deal. That deal means the Hawks have now traded away their first three picks. They would be desperate to get some back. Perhaps we can toss them a bone with 39

Except the Hawks said their priority was Bourgoyne over Jolly. How could we get pick 9 when they were always going to give it to Port?

Nothing wrong with trying to get in their ear, is there?

Port can't/won't match the dollars for Mumford. He can go pre-season draft with the big price on his head pretty safe in the knowledge he would be likely to fall to us - cats then get nothing. Also, there is a reasonably healthy trade history between cats/swans - they are among the clubs out there who see a benefit in maintaining mutually respectful trading relationships. Unlike the Hawks!

Geelong is the fourth club and hawthorn don't get any draft picks back. As it stands their first pick is 57

Dealing with the Hawks is like swimming in a school of sharks with a T-bone steak strapped to your loins ...

They have been hopeless to deal with for a few years now - their bloody mindedness probably cost us and Spida a flag and for what?

Apart from anything else, they have been trying to wring every last drop out of the Burgoyne deal. If they mentioned possibly trading for Jolls, it was just to put the heat on Port. Nothing surer.

28 not bad considering he's a young ruckman, let's hope he develops nicely for us and becomes a real steal. God knows we need it!

Unless we give them pick/s higher than 57 for Kennedy & McGlynn which it now looks like we'll do.

If we don't trade any more, we've got 6, 14, 28, 38, 39, 54 and six spots at this stage.

But we may now get the Fev!!

Realfooty reporting that the Burgoyne deal had to go to mediation!

Unbelievable! They're a happy team at Hawthorn - NOT!

Agree... the fact a premiership club were reluctant to part with him but had no choice due to the Salary cap speaks volumes for his ability. The Jolly thing may be a blessing in disguise.
