True, but not all of the criticism has been undeserved.

I've never doubted his effort, but there's been many times when he appeared to have no idea what to do next when he's gained possession.

It actually struck me last night that he'd really improved heaps in that area in the back end of this season - but then Leo handballed to him under pressure & the bad memories all came flooding back (momentarily).

Overall, been a good year for LRT - and i reckon he's gonna get better.

I can't believe this thread, aren't u the same guys that caled for his head all last year? Realising that LRT was coming back from serious injury, it always takes time for even the best players to get their confidence up. It's back now, courage cannot be doubted, and skills are ever improving. Outmarking Cam Mooney point blank is no mean feat, and his marking has become possibly the best feature of his game. I would like to see figures on his eff kicks this year game by game. I reckon the improvement would be marked. Another 1 or 2 years to his best footy. Lumber on Lewie

He always gets praised for a good game now, but when will people realise that this is just the norm and expect it of him? He's a very good defender now, games like last night are to be expected.

Is he the bloke who can hold down full back for us during our next premiership tilt?

No. But he'll make a very fine second defender. He just gets caught out on a short lead a little too easily sometimes to make him our long-term FB. Both he and Grundy have this problem (I'm a fan of both, by the way). If Craig Bolton lasts until then (depends on how quickly we rebuild, I guess), he could be there, but otherwise, we need to uncover a more complete player, or at least one that compliments LRT and Reg more.

LRT is playing sensational footy. Loose man or not. He's taken some ripper marks and has really learnt to read the game and run off his opponent in attack or to help in defence.

He certainly has made some very positive steps forward imo, especially over the last couple of months. I've always thought he is a decent footballer, but I think especially for him confidence is such an important thing. We all know he has the potential to be a very good player- you just need to look at the '05 grand final to know that! Lets hope it continues next year, as we need him to continue to stand up and be counted if we are to make more positive steps towards building for another tilt at the flag in a few years time.
