I'm usually quick on the draw about Fev and his outrageous behavior. But, yesterday playing golf with a couple of old mates we reminisced about some of our 20something behaviors. Had the tv camera been there or if we had been high profile athletes, we could have been regarded as Fev is today!
Granted he's a mug..so were we at that age...granted he's a bigger mug than most of his peers, so were we.
One major difference is that we drank 365 days, he can only do it for 40 or so, and has more to make up?? Or maybe overdoes it because he's not a steady drinker who can get his body and mind used to it?
I'm neither defending or attacking Fevola...just expressing my two bob's worth, if it's worth even that!

Really all good points - at the end of the day - most of us have done some really stupid things whilst under the influence - and you are right - had there have been tv cameras around, we would have probably have been arrested!!!
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................
Chickens drink - but they don't pee!
AGE IS ONLY IMPORTANT FOR TWO THINGS - WINE & CHEESE!

That's what I mean about a montage - it's every stupid drunk night you ever had rolled up into one. Of course, none (or hardly any) of mine were filmed, but more importantly my public profile was non-existant so nobody really cared ;-(

That's really the point. He was with his pregnant wife, at a major event for an entity that pays for his existence, and he has no respect for any of it or any concern about his wife's welfare.

When you make a tool of yourself do it privately where possible. Its a really bad move to do it in the vicinity of the boss. I know. Sadly. Wobbling down the street in high heels towards the bus stop and having to hang onto the telegraph pole, pretending to have a little dignity left is one thing, noone knew who I was. Sooo long ago, I can't tell you. I have been on "time and place" alert ever since.

Fev has branded himself indelibly as a drunken jerk. Not one of the other boys did that, and there were at least 80 of them there under the same circumstances, and we are not talking about them.

Goodsey and Black managed to get tanked and hilarous. I wish I knew what the love session was all about. All I could see that everyone else at the table was laughing too, noone was cringing with embarrassment.

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Caro caro caro...I agree with almost everything (usual state of affairs) but let's not hold Judd up as the paragon of virtue after the Karate Kid affair and that he allegedly purchased said dildo for Fevola.

Totally agree - not sure you could tell. He can't even claim that the press "hounded" him when he was trying to kick back and socialise - he was supposedly working for 9 at the time. You can't play AFL, be a "media personality", and expect the same freedom of behaviour as the hoi polloi.

I still think it's funny - maybe because he doesn't play for my team - the same way I would if someone I knew but didn't really like made just a spectacle of themselves. Couldn't think of a more fitting self-portrait of the man.

                    Questions have been raised:

Why didn't members of the leadership group, who were on his table, tell him to tone it down?

Why didn't the Carlton officials, who were on the next table tell him to tone it down?

Why did Crown continue to serve him Alcohol, in breach of the liquor licensing ACT?

When I get that drunk, my friends encourage me, and the venue would generally continue to serve me alcohol so long as I don't cause trouble or vomit.

Go to any nightclub and you'll see a huge amount of people who are as wasted as Fev was when he started singing "i've had the time of my life"

You don't have to go to a club. Just watch the news these days to see it.

A contractor from crown, has come out and said Fev wasn't the worst behaved.
I think Fev's problem comes from the fact he had a TV camera following him around doing street talk, otherwise he would've just been another drunk.

Oh if I had a dollar for every time I heard this one. When I worked behind a bar the rule was simple: give them alcohol unless they are visibly causing damage. In other words, don't turn anyone off. Publicans like the money and are prepared to risk the fine.

Yeah, I throw out the line "when I get drunk" as if it's a regular occurrence.
These days I'm lucky to have a big night out every few months.
When I was out partying regularly, I am please to say that it was for the most part trouble free.
These days I cringe at the thought of my kids hitting the pubs and clubs in the years to come.
But then again, I'm probably being sucked in to a whole media beat up.
Maybe there was this much crap going on years ago, but it just wasn't newsworthy back then.....

Interesting read in the Melbourne Herald Sun from Fev. It was a heartfelt response, far better than we have had from some other players in trouble. As he said its on camera, and he for the first time can see what we saw. Looks like the penny has finally dropped and perhaps it will be the making of him. I don't mind him, it was what he did at the Brownlow that needs to be sanctioned. Lets see what happens next.

Funnily enough I was saying the same thing to a friend last night. Every other time it was just a report that came out (with the odd bit of CCTV footage) but this time he can go back and see just what an idiot he is and hopefully realise what getting on the turps does to him.
