    Farewell MOnty Thread

    Dead set legend

Glenn Archer was right absolutely robbed of Norm Smith Medal

I have a Photo signed by Roos and Hall - Monty kicking the winning goal in a GF, great moment

You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

    Thanks Bucky!

I'm glad to say that you were my favourite player in our 05/06 seasons. Your determination and pure ability to win the hard ball was enthralling to watch.

You're awesome grand final and seeing you enter the stage at Punt road after our victory holding a banner which said "Amen Amon" will always be in my memories from that day.

Best of luck at the Lions Amon!

Most influential player on the ground in 05 GF, particularly his 4th qtr.

Sadly never recaptured his best after 06. Hope he does well at the Lions (but not against us)

If, Leo Barry had not taken THAT mark, but the Swans still won the 2005 Grand Final, how would the football world be remembering that last goal in the game kicked by Amon!

Get your point - but I think the point is, if Leo hadnt taken that mark, then it would have landed in the hands of someone to kick the winning goal for the WCE - namely, our new ruckman.

funny thing. We now have obtained 2 opposition players who had a play in our 2 most significant moments in 05.

Playfair - Ball's opponent in the final ruck contest to that Nick Davis goal

Seaby - Most likely player to mark the ball if Leo had not of been there

Absolute Champion in 2005 and 2006. Could really turn it on when it mattered which is always the Hallmark of greatness. Robbed of the Norm Smith! I loved his impossible ball gets and then handball back to a player in kicking position. Look at how he got the ball to Malceski in 2006,a miracle pick up at top pace in the dying moments of a GF.It doesn't get any better than that! Not Monty's fault we lost in 2006 and probably our win in 2005 has a lot to thank him for.Shame ROK could not have sidetepped Chick after your miraculous give to him in 2006.Could go on and on about his ability to "take on" the opposition and break lines. Lets pay respect to one of the Swans true champions!

I think you have just uncovered our trading strategy. Now all that is left to do is to hire Shane McInerney as our defensive coach and we're all set.

Amon Buchanan is a footballer?s footballer. He plays hard and inside and in 116 games for the bloods never once shirked it (even when Johnson called him a dog). His kicking for goal was @@@@house but managed to snare a pretty important one which will resonate at this club forever. I will remember his time at the bloods not for his sneaky left footer in 2005, but for his perseverance, for being delisted and dropped and coming back to bust packs time after time for the good of his team. I am sad to see him go, but look forward to seeing him tearing it up for the lions in 2010 and beyond.

Need to make a pact R&Wers. I could not boo Monty ever, so hope the rest of you feel the same. The look on his face after the 2005 goal is priceless, one of my favourite moments.

Good luck sunshine, hope you can promote your business up north as a good quality added extra to the footy trade! And I look forward to you carving it up for the Lions, except against Sydney.
