Unfair on Shaw, he's more than capable, and was given some tough defensive jobs a few times throughout the season. It's just that most of the time, he was played a lot more loose, and it wasn't his role to play particularly defensively. Tadhg is quite capable in the air defensively, if not in the tackle, and when in form Mal's tackling, while not a strength, doesn't stand out as a weakness.Exciting yes, but a bit of a worry also..
Roosy says;" having a halfback line with Tadhg, Shaw, Mattner, Malceski will be pretty exciting"...
Yes in one sense it will...ie tonnes of run, plenty of speed and pretty good disposal....but....When we don't have the ball......
Other than Mattner, none of them can, or are willing to, tackle.Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

I don't think I'm being unfair at all. There was plenty of turnstyle defence this year from Shaw, and in the past from both Tadhg and Mal.Unfair on Shaw, he's more than capable, and was given some tough defensive jobs a few times throughout the season. It's just that most of the time, he was played a lot more loose, and it wasn't his role to play particularly defensively. Tadhg is quite capable in the air defensively, if not in the tackle, and when in form Mal's tackling, while not a strength, doesn't stand out as a weakness.
Shaw has been a great pickup, but tackling is no doubt one of his weaknesses, same goes for Mal, and Tadhgs' shoulder will dictate whether he will tackle or not...IMO, if all three line up together it's a worry, as it leaves us soft in the tackle across a large section of the halfback line.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... So you agree with me that have Kennelly back is a good thing? Yet you say my posts have no idea. Does that mean you have no idea as well?Comment
