It's interesting that Collingwood plays so many games in Melbourne for commercial reasons and yet St Kilda will only play Geelong once next season.

        Eddies justification is:

Get over it, take the money you get from playing us!!

That is such a logical suggestion! No way would the AFL go for it

I can deal with Collingwood playing in Melbourne (maths says 16 times minimum) but to have the two Grand Finalists, who played in two absolute belters last year and were head and shoulders the best teams last year only play ONCE? It's sheer idiocy.

What about the hipocrisy that flows from AFL house.

On one hand they slam Fevola and Hall, then promote the Swans/Bulldogs games and Brisbane/Carlton games as some sort of huge battle.

The AFL draw has been ridiculous for some time. I've done a comparison of teams over the last 10 years, the following match-ups have happened more then 20 times in that period. That is, the following teams have played each other on average twice a year (note: does include finals)
                  Adelaide v Port Adelaide (21)
                  Brisbane v Sydney (20)
                  Carlton v Collingwood (20)
                  Carlton v Essendon (21)
                  Collingwood v Essendon (20)
                  Hawthorn v North Melbourne (20)
                  Sydney v West Coast (20)
                  West Coast v Fremantle (20)

Some can be explained by derby day or finals (Like Sydney/West Coast), but that doesn't mean the follwing clashes should suffer:
North Melbourne v Western Bulldogs (12)
                  Sydney v Western Bulldogs (12)
                  Essendon v North Melbourne (12)
                  Collingwood v Melbourne (12)
                  Carlton v Western Bulldogs (12)
                  Geelong v Carlton (12)
                  Brisbane v Fremantle (12)
                  Carlton v West Coast (11)
                  Brisbane v Melbourne (11)
                  North Melbourne v Fremantle (11)

The ones in bold are teams in the same state that can't even play each other on a equal basis. I'm sure it's no suprise the AFL tries to maximise revenue, but there must be a better way.

Then we've got the c%%% spewed by Andy of an extended season with 18 teams! How about instead of this vomit we have 22 rounds, everyone plays each other once (17 games), play a cross town rival again (18) and play 4 of the remaining 16 teams again on a 4 year rotation! Shock horror! It's equity!

St Kilda round 1 (AGAIN!!!!!) = BORING!!!

I want to see something different next season - not playing the same teams at the same time and in the same places!!! We always seem to start/end with the same teams ...

I think the fairest way you can manage the draw is if all Melbourne clubs travel interstate 6 times and I don't mean Hawthorn home games in Tassie are included.

They must play an interstate side on that sides home turf. If that is possible that should be done. The unfairest part is Geelong plays interstate sides at home purely because of the small numbers of interstate supporters who attend. It makes it a full house for Geelong without upsetting the powerful Melbourne clubs and supporters. The lesser drawing Melbourne clubs like North and Bulldogs get the honour of travelling down Geelong Road.

Ive been banging on about this for ages the only way to have a fair draw in a 22 round season is to extend the season by one round

Once GC17 and GWS join thats 18 teams 17 games everyone played once, playing 2 games at home and 2 away makes 68 games in total.

                          Played over 3 seasons is; 23 Rounds year 1, 22 rounds yr2, 23 rounds yr3
allowing for split rounds etc thats roughly 24 weeks, you could even fit in a state of origin round in year 2 between the split round. the only draw back is that the "traditional Derby" ie: FREO v WCE, PORT V ADEL, GC17 v BRIS SYD v GWS et all.... may be lost in one year but would that really matter

And dont get me started on this ''floating Round 22"
if your head is made out of chocolate dont stand out in the sun

St Kilda round one. What a thrill.

We play Bulldogs twice because they have an ex-Swan on their team.

Thank god it's not of those old-fashioned draws where everybody plays everybody by round 15. What would that prove?
The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible news
