Mods? I thought the cougars had their own forum now?

It occurred to me today that all we have to do to secure Bradshaw is say he hurt his back/knee/hamstring while training with us.

Easy.To all those people who waited 72 years to see a South Melbourne/Sydney Swans premiership HERE IT IS!!Comment

Easy, maybe, but possibly fraud. In any case, you'd think it would be unbecoming of the Swans, wouldn't you?Superman still wears Brett Kirk PyjamasComment

True, but who then to number 1? It's kind of an attention-grabbing number (rightly or wrongly), and giving a young draftee the number 1 just kinda seems like a touch too much pressure (though I suppose we gave Bird 14....). All of our younger players (within reasonable number-changing period) who have broken into the side and really shown something already have lowish numbers (or in the case of former rookies MOD and Smith, had the chance to lower their number when they were elevated). A marquee signing like Bradshaw would fit the number nicely. Though I suppose you could give it to a bloke like Mumford, Seaby or Kennedy (McGlynn doesn't quite strike me as a "1" sort of bloke, don't know why).Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!Comment

My money would be on Mumford for the 1, Bradshaw would surely stick with 36.True, but who then to number 1? They should rest number 1.

.... yes? Oh, well no. However I would think he would like to nose thumb and take 36. On principle. If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

Not sure it would be nose-thumbing. But Bradshaw doesn't strike me as the kind of player who wants to come in and be the centre of attention at a new club in the twilight of career. I certainly don't think he'd want to be pushed forward as the "new Barry Hall". So number 1 would probably be the guernsey he'd least like to adopt.

Would like to think someone like Mumford or Kennedy or Seaby would be game enough to take it - someone who plays in a completely different position to Hall and therefore isn't going to get the comparisions.

Alternatively, it would have been a good question for draft campees that they are thinking of taking with pick 6 (or 14)..."How would you react to being given the number one guernsey to wear?"

(PS - I presume someone's told Seaby he has no chance of getting the no 14 guernsey!)Comment
