I suspect Paul Roos has recruited to give himself one more crack at the flag before he bows out. None of this doing it for Longmire stuff, they have recruited with a genuine eye on the 2010 cup.

SEN, 6.30pm tonight interviewed his manager. I just missed it but the offer is 3 years for $1.5M. Done and dusted signed sealed and ..... to be drafted.

just heard the news here in WA with Colin Young from WA (I believe).

I just hope we introduce a more attacking atyle of play on top of our lockdown ability in 2010, otherwise it will be a waste is $1 mill.

I wasn't really sure i wanted him in the side, but now the news has broken i must say i am pretty excited by next years prospect. We have recruited and traded tremondously...

How many picks do we have in the PSD is it only 1 pick per team???

considering we tried to trade 2 1st rounders for pick 3 i wonder if we will use our 14th pick for a proven player or even our next pick in the draft..

the 2 drafts come way too far after the season...

$300k pa at the Dogs but I wonder what it was at the Swans as I am Happy to replace that with Bradshaw for 2010 minimum

from memory Barry Hall signed a $3mill for 4 seasons ?? in 2006??

So we save approx $250k pa for Bradshaw for 2010 and it was highly unlikely another club would have let a 50 plus goal scoring FF go in 2011 or 2012 besides Fev or Barry Hall !!!

BARRY Hall and Jason Akermanis look set to join forces on the Western Bulldogs forward line next season...

"Hall is expected to be offered a deal worth up to $600,000 over two years in a contract expected to protect the club from any further suspensions. Akermanis, who was earning more than $400,000, is expected to sign a new deal worth half of that amount or less."

this obsession with a premiership team......there are so many bloody factors to make this happen.....we are talking about giving ourselves a great opportunity to be competitive in 2010

Are you saying you know who will come Top 1,2,3 in that order without doubt in 2010?

........White, Mumford, Vespa, Hannebery, Smith, Johnston, Odwyer, Kennedy etc could amaze us in 2010..........we dont know for sure as they are emerging talent on the rise so far.......but at least we have a team that can move up and forward......it now has multiple options in teh event of injuries......to key positions......we also now have goals which we lost and that is massively significant

i just find that I am happy to have a healthy debate on this issue (so I can be wiser for it) but you constantly side step the opportunity to provide a a real short term and medium term solution......

What else would you have done to ensure we are on the path to being very competitive in 2010 and beyond? If one is not competitive how can you hope to play in a GF?

If one is not maintaining and or building a positive spiral and a vibrant culture........what hope is there ?

PS - his book on success "Outliers" is a very good read........
I'm proud to be obsessed with our next premiership team...too many Swans supporters passed away before they got to see our last win in 2005...I don't want to wait any longer than is necessary for our next one...my point is we're not going to see our next premiership unless we're ruthless about clearing out non-performers and investing in youth...there's just no point stocking up with older players, way past their prime, to try and keep scraping into the eight...the market in Sydney isn't buying it anymore, and neither should we...unfortunately the club has a long and unsuccessful history when it comes to being genuinely competitive...I just don't think there's any point in chasing short term solutions anymore...

Hmm, If a hardnut brilliant triple premiership player in Jonathon Brown can enjoy playing with Bradshaw and then be happy about Fevola's recruitment, I would have serious concerns about Jesse White if recruiting Bradshaw caused him any issues, even the SLIGHTEST.

As much as I am hopeful for him, White has proved nothing and remains an unproven low draft pick but luckily has a bit going for him. I am a bit worried about some posts on this board that seem to suggest White is anymore than a potential up and comer.

For what it's worth, I think Bradshaw's recruitment adds something totally new and exciting to 2010. If the Seaby/Mumford combo works and Hannebury/Veszpremi keep coming along, mix in a potential potency in attack. Who knows? All I know is that I feel a lot more excited about possibilities over the next few years now than I did 2 months ago.

I'm not chasing anyone in particular, as it's obvious our list has undergone very significant turnover this year...no one really knows how we'll go next year...as for when we see our next premiership, that depends on how our existing young talent performs...we'll probably have a better idea at the end of next season...

There is no single correct way to build a premiership team - the past 15 or so years surely teaches us that. But the experiences of Freo and Richmond surely also indicate that several years of crapness to build up lots of high draft picks is no sure way to even become competitive, let alone challenge for a flag.

If we'd traded away young players or high draft picks for Bradshaw, your view would have more merit. But given his recruitment costs us only salary cap space - not currently a scarce commodity, and can't really be argued will keep a young power forward from gaining valuable experience for which he is ready, what is the real cost?

Do you not think that the development of Hannebery, Veszpremi, Meredith et al might be hastened by playing in a team with a functioning forward line? Or with a midfield that has the option of using Goodes in it at times? That White might develop more quickly learning alongside someone of the quality of Bradshaw?

no plan except hope........yet Roo's took affirmative action to re balance our forward line with genuine goals and you choose not to........

I agree with you Liz. White will learn more from not being the main target up forward and we really still need Goodes running around in the midfield. Bradshaw kicks 50+ goals a season and does not have the brain snaps of BBB. Surely the young players would feel more confident having experience in the forward line.
