Bradshaw a Swan

Other than our good fortune to be signing a player of Bradshaw's calibre for basically nothing pick wise there are a couple of other interesting thoughts.

Brisbane in getting Fevola has given up Bradshaw, pick 12 and high draft pick and potential top player Henderson. That makes Fevola a very expensive signing, possibly the most expensive of all time. He will also be costing them a large % of their salary cap.

Thank goodness that Carlton didn't get Bradshaw or they will have effectively got Bradshaw, pick 12 and Henderson for Fevola. That would have been way over the odds and I would have been spewing.

Bradshaw will be a fantastic addition to our side and he's not keeping out any youngsters, none of them are yet knocking down the door to get in, but hopefully before end of next season they are.

This gives us the opportunity to use Goodes as a loose cannon mid & fwd whilst still leaving two talls at home in the forward line providing the structure. Should be exciting to watch.

With both Bradshaw and Seaby being "turn the other cheek" type players, does this leave us with Vezpremi and Hannerbry as I main enforcers?

Hopefully we don't have much to enforce but Shaw, LRT and White aren't ones to take a backward step if someone wants a go.

its not our go and anyone who is confident in their ability to win the game and beat their player at the same time has more to focus on then the knuckle

I was going to post the same thoughts. I am really excited about next year now. Mumford could become the next Cox I hope.

We still have more new faces to come so that is exciting too. We will add even more talent and can keep guessing the next month in which positions.

It's funny how the Carlton supporters on BF are saying that Bradshaw chose the Swans because there will be no presure on him as we will finish in the bottom 4 for the next 5 years.

Top it off by beating carlton next year and making the finals.

The SWans recruiters have won this years Recruiting Premiership. Such a significant player turnover in just one short period is amazing and that it has immediately strengthened the team as well.

Plus we've retained Luke to bag in 2010!

Have you seen Mumford on the rampage? Jack won't take a back step either. Have LRT play with a mohawk next year and how much more scary can you get?

Think about it. It means Goodes will go back to the midfield which means one of our many young mids will miss out. It's also very possible that Currie will miss out aswell now. Either him or Johnstone are sure to be playing ressies now when they could be gaining experience in seniors.

Neither Merideth, Hannaberry or Vespremi are fully ready to play a full game or a whole season on the ball, maybe Bird if he can get himself fit enough but he has shown signs that he is not mature enough to play a full year in the middle yet.

Structurely, Bradshaw is perfect for where our list is at present.

It allows the coaching panel to play Goodes anywhere on the ground they see he is needed. The midfield, pinch hitting up forward and even as a floating defender when we are under the pump.

It takes the pressure off White to be the go to man and allows Johnston or Currie to play the third tall option on merit, meaning either would be having to work for their spot in the 22.

I can't see one issue with us having Bradshaw in the team for the next 2 or 3 years if his body makes it that far.

I would like to make one further Bradshaw observation (Rosie, Wardy, you listening?) have you seen those guns!!!

oh yes indeedy (I have noticed those lovely arms!!) - am glad he will be in the side - and lets just relax a bit - Bradshaw has a wealth of experience that White should be able to learn from him. I feel that some here are placing far too much pressure on Whites young shoulders at this time. If White was going in as our main forward, and as Liz has said, its still very early days with him, what if he cracks under the expectation?? the kid will be crucified! With Bradshaw up there with him, he will have the support of someone with loads of experience and who has handled huge pressure for the last 10 years. White is in no position to have "his nose out of joint" he is not a champion player yet. He has shown glimpses and we all hope like hell that his talent goes on and matures and that he becomes the player we all hope for. But, at this point in time, I feel that White can only benefit in spades having Bradshaw along side him, it wont hinder his development.

bradshaw is just about the most adaptable and dependable tall forward going around. a bit like o'keefe with an extra 4 cms. we are extremely lucky to get him in to replace some of the loss created by hall and o'loughlin leaving. he can play as a main target and also knows how to play around others. he can teach every forward in our team a bit about the game and will enable white and others to find their natural positions and styles much faster.

I would have been happy with Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse for our forward line, anyone but Brendan Fevola. But I agree Daniel Bradshaw is potentially the perfect fit. No wonder he wanted out from the Brisbane forward line. It is going to be very interesting to see how Brendan and Jonathan Brown get on together. Just the reality check Brendan needs, maybe.

A big welcome to Braddles. His influence will be invaluable.

What she said, in spades. Mocca has been maturing mentally and is about caught up with his body now, but sheeze, it takes time people. Not everyone can be a Joel Selwood! We can sit back a bit and enjoy the process a bit now that we have Bradshaw riding shotgun.

Couldn't agree more. We have replaced an ageing forward with attitude with a terrific, slightly younger straight up and down mark and kick player, with no baggage except two premierships and plenty of experience, and probably cheaper!

We have boosted the middle tier 23-27 olds with 4 ready made players.

We have two first round picks in the final untainted draft for a few years!

We lost that sap Jolly.

We will have real competition for spots too!

And still the PSD to come if something pops up/we need it.
