Well yay for Nipper Gordon. He does have that hard head approach to his footy that makes him stand out.

Matty May probably does need to move up to Sydney from the south south coast, logical move. Not exactly a fermenting ground of AFL down there. Good on him. Looks like he wants it and is willing to work.

RBN - Botts could work out in the future...bit of a smokey tho.

    Not bad all round really.

Former North Shore player, are we considering picking him up? It's been a while since we had a Davo on our list.
I rate him. I'd definetly take him at #55 if he lasts.

Looks like Playfair will be a mature age rookie if he is granted a reprieve.

I hope he is. Have been feeling a bit sorry for myself healthwise recently so watched a couple of past games, one including Henry. I had forgotten how good he is. I hope he does stay fit enough, because he is good enough.

In my opinion, not strong enough. BUT, he surprised me, and I took a closer look. The man can play and he can mark and he can kick. Happy to keep him on the books.

Definitely the type that you need a flat surface, $20 note and a credit card for....

                  Ablett to depart??

This article suggests it is on the cards.

List trim puts big names in draft - RFNews - realfooty.com.au

Seems a bit weird for him not to have been offered a contract yet - assuming the article is correct. You'd reckon he'd have been delisted already if that were the case, unless the club is waiting for the Kennelly decision before they decide whether there is room for him or not.

From Ablett's point of view it makes some sense, given that he's going to be fighting out for one of the last spots in the midfield/half forward line with a long list of developing players. However, he'd be far from guaranteed a spot elsewhere because the teams who could use a strong, mature player in the midfield (like the Tigers and Dees) will almost certainly be obsessed with YOOF.

                    Ablett wants out?

The story says Noggy's contract hasn't been renewed and he "may" look elsewhere in the draft.

In the rush to sign up Kennelly and Bradshaw, did the footy dept "forget" about poor old Luke?

NOG has presumably been told that he's not a definite 'chop', but he's not a priority, and will only be retained or dropped at the last possible list lodgment prior to the ND once the Playfair and Kennelly situations are sorted, Kirk and Goodes inside/outside vet decisions are made, and the club starts to solidify its opinion on how many picks it wants to use in the ND.

Which from a brutal list management position makes sense. Just not very nice for the poor old player.

Y oucan see how it happened though. Trade Week went so well for us, combined with a strong back end of the season and suddenly our midfield is looking deeper then a diving pool. So a fringe player like Ablett could risk spending a concievable amount of time in the reserves next year or risk the wheel of fortune in the drafts. We could always pick him up again with pick 108 in the ND if no-one wants him, I guess.

Either its a journalistic beat up, or its very very disappointing. I am one of those who like Luke a lot. He is a good bloke, a good player, a hard worker, and I don't want him to leave......I don't care what you monsters think....

Luke has been a good club servant and I'd be sorry to see him go, but we may have reached the stage where he'll struggle to get a regular spot. However he may be just what the Gold Coast needs for a couple of seasons.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I'd rather say goodbye to Luke and thank him for his efforts over the years, than try and hang on to him for sentimental reasons. Sentiment and success rarely mix in football.

I think you might be right about the Gold Coast option for Luke. It would be good for him.

Bye Bye Luke. Well, hopefully anyway. The guy is an out and out spud and has been for several years. And for all of you that are boo hooing his departure and his treatment at the hands of the club, think long and hard and see if you can remember the last time he contributed anything to the Swans as a footy player on game day. If you can find a single game post 2006, you're probably mistaken.

Thanks for the memories Luke and I wish you all the best. I just wish it to be somewhere else as you're just a passenger here at the Swans taking up a spot on a list that could easily be filled by a player with a bigger future than you.
