Paul Kelly, OUR Paul Kelly, considering GW job

Jessica Halloran reports today that Kell is considering a job with GW franchise. I am horrified.

Good on him, why should he sit around doing nothing?

This is good. You dont want the GWS pushed aside and treated like a little brother. Give it some firepower to increase a rivallry with the two clubs.

I don't think the alternative has to be him sitting around doing nothing. If there is a job to be done, isn't there an equivalent to be done at the Swans? He is a legend of the club, after all.

I agree Liz, he is such an important part of the Swans fabric, both internally and externally. The Swans should do whatever is required to keep him in our camp, promoting and helping our club. The club he is such a huge part of.

Which begs the question, "Why haven't the Swans offered him something?"

He doesn't sit around doing nothing ... he's a plumber in Wagga!!

I'll dead-set go right off if Kels has anything to do with the Blacktown Bogans.

It's probably just a rumour to get us all pissed off.

He runs the Paul Kelly Cup and cleans the Paul Kelly race, and when he has time and the circumstances dictate, he presents the premiership cup to our premiership winning side.

I thought the development of the code in NSW was of greater importance. They have probably offered him lots of money and he is an identity in NSW.

Kevin Sheedy, Paul Kelly... Massive names!

I guess they'd be mad not to aim for a star studded line up in coaching/administrative roles with the money the AFL would be throwing at them.

Who's next? Will they aim to get Barassi on board? Maybe he could run the boxing classes?

Bob Skilton coached Melbourne. Doesn't make him any less of a legend of our club.

Sometime ago, I remember Paul Kelly speaking about having a possible role out West with the Bogan people. The main point that he was pushing for was the development of the game itself into a new area . I agree with the comments from Liz re Kelly but maybe the bigger picture has more appeal at this stage of his life. Also the circumstances of Kelly leaving the Swans Board puzzled me at the time but maybe I was misreading the situation .

100k+ for running round promoting a footy team with a healthy expense account sounds better to me that fighting funnel webs and crawling under houses in 40 deg heat..anyday! Barassi has been associated with many clubs including ours, Skilts coached another team,..do we think any the less of them? Of course not! Go Kell.

I think that though we would prefer him at Swans but good luck to him at GWS . Sounds like he is a bit like Sheeds and has a passion for game as well as a team .
                              give it to the game
